Alrighty then! I will do Wisconsin by The Crucifucks. Of course, it will appear as tracks 17-29 of the album 'Our Will Be Done', which is a compilation album containing two of The Crucifucks albums. I decided to only upload the second one as they are two somewhat different records, and it would a bit odd. In my opinion, anyways. |

I'm down with Crucifucks. I just read that they made a song advocating the assassination of Ronald Reagan....that's music I look forward to listening to. |

Just want to throw this out there, but has any of you heard of the band "Soul Coughing?" Someone made me download their album "Ruby Vroom" the other day to please someone and so far, it's alright, I might share it, I'm not sure. |

My first impression: "The Savior" is fucking brilliant. I'll post more later when I get a better picture of the whole album. |

Doc Dart is a true madman. No, not because this album is a complete 180 from the Crucifucks' previous work (The inclusion of folk and psychedelic elements and a heavier emphasis on actual melody make the album sound vastly different from their previous record). Not even because he replaced his entire band before recording the album. As weird as that sounds, no, his true looniness comes from what he spews out of that mouth of his. Wisconsin is full of some of the weirdest "punk" songs I've ever heard. "When the Top Comes Off"? It's about fishing. "Concession Stand"? Baseball. "Pig in a Blanket"? Killing cops. Seriously, Doc covers so many bizzare topics in this album, it's as if he crammed a bunch of random songs he wrote into a blender to see what would become of it. The result, while inconsistent, is truly wonderful. Doc Dart is a truly great lyricist, whether it's the twisted humor of "Pig in a Blanket," the sheer simplicity of the astounding folk closer "The Savior," or the general random ranting of the rawkin' punk tune "Washington." And his voice...god, his voice! He has such a great voice for the kind of stuff he writes. And his music! This was pretty groundbreaking stuff back in the 80's: A punk band playing actual melodies. Acoustic guitars in a punk song?! Blasphemy! Many would argue that this isn't punk at all, but the spirit remains. Kickass riffs abound amongst all the pussy folk business. And when they combine the two, the results are stunning (See=The Savior again) Yeah, this took me about 5 minutes to write (RUSHJOB), is devoid of any real substance, and was as inconsistent as Doc's rants on the album. But I'm busy but at the same time wanted to write an actual review, because this album deserves it. I've owned Our Will be Done for years now, and have listened to Wisconsin WAY too many times, and to this day, I enjoy it as much as I did so many years ago. This album is a masterpiece. I give Wisconsin a 9/10. |
