Belle & Sebastian - Dear Catastrophe Waitress Though I prefer Belle & Sebastian when they're feeling sinister, this is a good album. Really good melodies, arrangements, and vocals. It all sounds crisp, clean, and slick. I kept thinking throughout that on this album (as on some of their others) Belle & Sebastian sound as if they were directly ripped from the sixties, but unlike other modern sixties emulators, they don't sound very much like The Beatles or The Stones or even The Kinks, they sound like one of the other sixties bands that emulated the aforementioned bands and had a few hits (or one) and that no one really remembers. Not that that's a bad thing, it's just what Belle & Sebastian sound like: they have an overall sweet sixties pop thing going, but you'll never go 'man that guitar line could've been played by Keith Richards' or 'John Lennon could've written that'. But they're still good. I won't go track by track with this one because I'm not in the mood right now (maybe later), but I will say that this album was well written and well executed and very easy to get into. This is not one of the bands you need to get 'used to'. Either you like em, or you don't. For me, it was the former. I give Belle & Sebastian's Dear Catastrophe Waitress a 6.7/10. |

No, it wasn't. That was just a "Ricky is being greedy so he wants to take advantage of Jeff's generosity so he chooses a Rush album so he can make his album collection bigger because he only has the debut so in the chat room he asks if Moving Pictures is good, so I said of course and I couldn't help but send it to him because I'm so nice" album... >_> I just kept the link so more people can get it while it's hot. You can post a review of it if you want, though. |

hey

I have never listened to Rush, so would this be a good album to start with? And for The Unicorns, I don't know what to think. I had a hard time taking it seriously, and I really didn't care for it much. It might grow on me, but I've had a hard time listening to all of it. I guess 5/10... |

Aaron, Start with Moving Pictures, then work your way backwards chronologically. Then work your way forward. |

Yeah, so, that there Unicorns album was alright. I'll probably listen to it again in the future. That's the best review you'll be getting from me. As far as my contribution to the album club, I have no idea what it is going to be. |
