Not necessarily. I'm going in with an open mind.

That's fine. I know them all pretty well.
But I know sometimes I must get out in the light.
Better leave her behind with the kids, they're alright.
The kids are alright.

Hmmm, I'm still not quite sure what to think about Elephant. Seven Nation Army was good as I thought, and at first I didn't really care for the other songs, but after a couple listens I got used to the style, and something about it was very intriguing. I could tell this would be something to grow on me, and it has. I also liked Black Math, Hypnotize, The Air Near My Fingers, and the little guitar solos in Girl, You Have No Faith in Medicine. I think the rest of the songs were all still pretty good, except In The Cold Cold Night and It's True That We Love One Another
Overall, not bad, but not great either. 7/10

What's up with the "just alright" reviews of this album? When I first listened to The White Stripes back when Maddy and I did our Summer Album Project, they really seemed interesting. We listened to White Blood Cells, which was a great album. My favorite song was "We're Going To Be Friends". While this album didn't have any calming, fun ballads, it had an epic rocker, "Ball and Biscuit', which by itself makes me give the album a 9/10. The rest of the songs were really great, these guys (or this guy and girl) have an overall fun sound that I really love. Meg's lead vocal on "In the Cold, Cold Night" was beautiful, it was probably my second favorite tune on the album.

Easily gets a 9/10. Some songs seemed to go on a little, but just a little. A rocking, fun album. I'll have to get more by them.

Well, as I said, I do feel like it's growing on me, so maybe after a while I will like it even more, and as of now, I feel it was good, but not great.
And I didn't think the singing was that bad on In The Cold Cold Night, I just thought it was an incredibly boring song.

I was never a big fan of White Stripes, but this album is actually very good. It starts amazingly. I'd like to be original, but "Seven Nation Army" totally rulez and it's the best song on here. "Black Math" is a generic but enjoyable blues-rocker. "There's No Home For You Here" has a killer melody and great vocal harmonies. I could live without "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself" and "I Want to Be the Boy to Warm Your Mother's Heart", but they're quite cool anyway. An acoustic ballad "You've Got Her in Your Pocket", "In The Cold, Cold Night" with Meg on vocals and a blues-rock epic "Ball And Biscuit" with some good guitar playing by Jack (he's a gruesomely overrated guitarist, though) are all fantastic.

Unfortunately, the second half of this record is nowhere near as good as the first. After the great duo of standouts there are two songs I could surely live without. "The Hardest Button to Button" is dumb and uninteresting (I don't understand why they released as a single) and "Little Acorns" sucks horribly. "Hypnotize" and "Girl, You Have No Faith in Medicine" both rock but aren't too memorable. I like "The Air Near My Fingers" with its cool melody and nice organ solo. The closing track seems to be universally despised, but I consider it quite good and funny.

Summary: A great retro-rock album which could have been a modern rock classic without some annoying filler
8.5/10

I'll post my album on either Monday or Tuesday since this one doesn't have many reviews.

Blah. I'll tell because I've got no life and am bored.

It's going to be Belle & Sebastian's Dear Catastrophe Waitress (sorry Aaron). It's their debut album on a bigger label, and one of their best. It may not be the best intro to the band (such as If You're Feeling Sinister or The Life Pursuit), but it's got some of their catchiest songs (okay, I guess every album has a trillion catchy songs) and has a lot fuller sound. I think a lot of people will enjoy it, and even if you don't, I suggest you dig deeper into the band because they're one of the greatest around today.

Plus I don't think many people besides Aaron and CSC have it...

Indeed it is a good choice because I love Belle and Sebastian, but do not have that album.
