I abstain from this discussion.

Well, THAT was a pointless thing to say.

I'm all for feminism, as long as women (and society in general) realise that with the rights it brings, they lose their concessions they have been granted over the centuries, which I don't think is happening. What I mean by concessions is stuff like opening doors for women and not hitting women - I'm not advocating violence, but it seems like people are okay with men punching each other playfully but not if a man punches a woman, which is ridiculous if women are supposedly equal to men. Same with old traditions like "ladies first", why should women get both equal rights to men and special concessions like that? It should be one or the other, not both.

What you're forgetting is men and women are different bodywise. Women aren't as physically able to take a punch as men (in general, and that's not supposed to be a bad thing, it's just how stuff is. Like guys usually smell worse then girls, it's just how it is). So you have to treat them equally where you can, but when it comes to testing physical differences you have to make sure one is protected.

That's a generalisation. Some men may be less physically able to take a punch than some women (I personally feel pain worse than most for some reason, making me less able to take punches), yet this is not accounted for - it is generally accepted for a man to punch another man for little reason, but not for a man to punch a woman when she's practically asking for it.

As if he's never seen one b4.
im by know means a very strong girl, but i can kick a guys ass when he is fighting back. it's happened a few times. Plus the fact that ive been punched in the nose, punched across the face with diamond rings, and kicked down a flight of stairs, just to name a few things, proves girls can take a hit. And, women go thru labor, it is a proven fact that labor is the WORST pain possibly felt be a human being, and women go thru it many times. Well, some do any way. Guys are and inch from tears if they get kicked in the nuts. and by the way, it actually does hurt girls if they are kicked in that same area.

And to go on the guys getting hut in the nuts thing, i gatta ask, why do guys play "sack tap"? IM sorry, and i know this is gunna sound kinda funny and i will probably get some grief for saying this, but thats just not a place that your supposed to be mean to. It really should be treated nicely. If a guy gets hit there hard enough and/ or often enough, he may never be able to have kids. plus, if that gets all messed up, how much fun is it gunna be for the lady in his life?!?!

Now, another question i have is, why is it such an insult for guys when they are called girls? im really curious about this. Please explain to me why being a girl is SUCH an insult.

one last thing, im amazed at how this topic took off. to be honest, i thought it would just get ignored.

By that reasoning, shouldn't men be paid more for certain jobs, because they're stronger and thus more efficient at it? Like lumberjack* or soldier? I'm just playing the devil's advocate here.

Same thing - it's confirming our male role I guess. A subconscious thing. "Sack tap", as you call it - that's our inner alpha male saying "I'm the one reproducing here, buddy!".
That, and it's funny. Ever seen a man get hit in that region by a frisbee? Hilarious.

Being called a "girl" mostly happens when we display a reaction that is considered unappropriate for males, like crying in a non-life-or-death situation. It robs us of the male qualities we'd like to be associated with, and as such, throws us out of the reproduction carousel. The person calling us that - if it's a guy - becomes superior at the moment. That's why no guy will complain if a girl calls him a "girl", or a "bitch", or any female insulting name. He'll act insulted because he knows that's the cute thing to do , smile and be happy for the fact that what he did/said sparked a reaction. But he will not feel threatened.

* I know it's tempting - lumberjacks, the male/female stereotypes - but please, refrain from Monty Python Youtube links. Thank you.

I personally ignore it if I get called a girl. It's a stupid and immature name to call someone, as it implies there's something wrong with being a girl.

Thats what i mean. but then again, girls do sometimes use guy as an insult, like "You smaell like a man." implying they need to shower.
