Any band that uses electric jug is automatically great. And as far as I know, the 13th Floor Elevators are the only band to do so. I only have "Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators", and I've had it for a very long time, but I am only just now becoming obsessed with it. I really need "Easter Everywhere". I just haven't found it yet.

If you haven't heard the awesomeness of 13FE, or electric jug, go. NOW. If you have, :pwn: :guitar:

I've been debating whether or not to get into these guys or not. Something tells me it will suck like that Grateful Dead band.

Except the Grateful Dead so do not suck.

*is probably the only one here who thinks that*

Their first four albums and Blues For Allah are fucking great.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

(that Dead comment hurt. Hurt me in my heart. In my soul. ;_; )

And the Elevators are nothing like the Grateful Dead. I can't even properly describe them. You have to hear it yourself.

Primal Scream's cover of Slip Inside This House is awesome.

This album was probably groundbreaking for it's time. I definitely see the influence on JA, VU, and even The Stooges in spots. On it's own, though, it is quite shit. The songs themselves have no distinct qualities to separate themselves from each other, so I'm pretty much left with hearing the same shit every track. The electric jug is just a pointless instrument. This album would probably be better if I didn't have to hear that fucking thing blooping like a walrus in every song. Vocals are really good, though, and I dig the first track. I deem this album a 2.5/5.

"You're Gonna Miss Me" is in a Dell computer commercial (LOLCANO).

And I can see not liking the electric jug, too. I love it, but I can see it being kind of gimmicky and cheesey.

But 'You Don't Know How Young You Are' is

I really need 'Easter Everywhere" because it has 'Slip Inside this House'. Which is an awesome song.

I can just buy it off Amazon, but goddamnit, I don't FEEL like it.

Great band! Love their three albums!
My favourite by them is probably Easter Everywhere, yes I prefer it over The Psychedelic Sounds...
Their cover of The Word is fantastic, while the cover of You Really Got Me is... quite unique, but still good and I like it.
They had a great sound overall.

Bump.

I got around to listening to Easter Everywhere. It was recommended that I try it before I completely write off this band. It is a huge improvement over Psychedelic Sounds. The electric jug is not nearly as annoying as on their debut and actually fits (!) in with the songs. Gone is the messy garage aspect of the first album and is replaced with a lush beauty reminiscent to that of The Velvet Underground's self-titled. Roky Erickson delivers much more of a convincing vocal performance than on the debut. This guy is really stellar in places, especially on the last track. The production is a huge step up. Oh, and a nice Dylan cover as well.

This album doesn't scream "psychedelic masterpiece" but it is pleasant to listen to. Overall, I'd give it a solid 4/5. Recommended.
