Guero is better than The Information. I like Guero, The Information, Odelay, and Mellow Gold. He's great.

Is Odelay a good start? I was at Best Buy yesterday, but I didn't see that one. I saw 5 copies of The Information, and a few others.

"odelay" is the correct place to start, in my opinion. most of his "classic" songs are on that album and it's probably his peak. the new stuff is good, too, but not as good. for the record, "mutations" is my favorite beck album, but don't start with it.

Be sure and tell her...
I have "Odelay!".

And I should like Beck, based on this. It's like all I could ever want.

Yet somehow I don't. I like "Devil's Haircut" and one other one I don't remember the name of, and that's it. I feel so left out.

You suck. ;_;

(Well, not really, but how can you NOT enjoy Odelay!? It's so eccentric in a white boy funk/rap kinda diggity!)

I don't know, but I don't like it and it makes me so sad!

Maybe I'll give it another try.

I know, Odelay is just so much fun and catchy as fuck! I have it and Mellow Gold which I haven't listened to yet.

THE JANITOR
I would like someone with constructive knowledge to tell us if that is some kind of phoenitic reversals in the song "Loser" or if he is like speaking Spanish or something.
I know that perdedor is a Spanish word which may be part of what he is singing but it sure sounds like something less in parts of the songs just before Beck sings, "I'm a loser, baby. So why don't you kill me?"
And in other parts it seems like some slight experimentation with back masking or sound reversals are going on in the song.
When she walks she moves so fine like a flamingo
Crimson dress that clings so tight She's out of reach and out of sight

He says 'Soy un perdedor" (I am a loser).

And I've decided to give "Odelay!" another chance. :)

EDIT: In fact I just did...and I'm gonna listen to it again!
