Not really. Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Bill Haley, Jerry Lee Lewis and others were the pioneers of rock and roll back in the 50's.

They (pretty much) started Rock and Roll.

That's why they did so many covers (of Rock and Roll songs) on their early albums.

No, they revolutionized the new sound of rock and roll.

Or something.

If you're referring to the British invasion of the 60's then you're completely correct.

Band Name: Opeth

Genre: Metal; Progressive Metal; "Melodic Death Metal"

Rating(1-10): 9

Best Album: Morningrise; Damnation

Songs:
- Best All Around: To Bid You Farewell
- Loudest/Hardest/Most Rockin': Master's Apprentices
- Most Relaxing: Credence
- Most Played/A song by them you may have heard: "Windowpane" and "The Grand Conjuration" have videos, but none of their songs are really famous.
- Song That Best Represents The Band: The Drapery Falls

- Bands Like This Band: I don't know.

- Coolest Thing About This Band: The average length of their songs are about eight minutes, therefore every song will be loaded with riffs that you wish you invented. Most songs also will feature so many parts to it that you won't even think that it's the same song. One minute you'll hear heavy riffs with growling vocals and the next minute you'll be relaxing to the clean vocals and acoustic passages. That leads me to mention that the singer, Mikael Akerfeldt, sings and growls. His singing voice is excellant, in my opinion, and I can understand the lyrics when he growls, unlike other bands. Not to mention the whole band is so talented at their instruments, it's unbelievable. Also, every album is pretty different than the other ones. If you don't want any death metal growls, get Damnation. All clean vocals.

Now Playing: Opeth - By The Pain I See In Others

Not to sound biased or anything, but I swear to you that I think everyone of their albums is a masterpiece, except maybe Spacegirl. Get that last.

They were part of the movement of artists that ended up changing rock n roll into rock. That whole evolution from Roll Over Beethoven to Day Tripper was largely because of The Beatles.
