Thinkin' one thing and doin' another
Band Name: The Rolling Stones

Genre: R&B/Rock

Your Rating Of Them (1-10): 10

Best Album: Let It Bleed

Songs:
- Best All Around: Jumping Jack Flash
- Loudest/Hardest/Most Rockin': Bitch, Satisfaction
- Most Relaxing: Moonlight Mile
- Most Played/A song by them you may have heard: (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction
- Song That Best Represents The Band: (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction

- Bands Like This Band: The Beatles/The Who/Creedence Clearwater Revival

- Coolest Thing About This Band: Probably the progression they made from their early days covering R&B numbers to becoming 'the greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world'. The Jagger/Richards songwriting team produced some of the greatest music of the 20th (and 21st we hope) century. Their bad boy image in the early days, that was definetely cool too.

Hate me, do it and do it again.
Name: My Chemical Romance
Genre: Rock, Emo
Rating: 9
Best Album: The Black Parade
Songs:
- All Around: "Mama"
- Loudest: "Give 'Em Hell Kid"
- Most Relaxing: "Interlude"
- Most Known: "Helena", "Welcome To The Black Parade"
- Represents: "Dead!"
Similar Artists: The Used, Queen, AFI, The Smashing Pumpkins
Coolest Thing About Them: While they were known for their emo look and hard rock sound back when Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge came out, the group had a unique style. There was no screamo involved, just loud guitars, depressing songs and a mild rock opera. Now they're sporting a new style, new sound, and new look with their The Black Parade album. This is one of the few albums in recent years I could see being on Greatest Albums of All Time lists.

Name: Nirvana
Genre: "Grunge"
Rating: 9, I think that The Beatles are the only real 10 I've heard. I guess just call me another obnoxious Beatles fan.
Best Album: Meh, I guess I'd have to say Nevermind or Unplugged In New York.
Songs:
- All Around: I honestly think it's "Lithium" or "You Know You're Right".
- Loudest: "tourette's"
- Most Relaxing: "Something In The Way"
- Most Known: "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
- Song That Best Represents The Band: "Lithium" or "You Know You're Right", what with the quiet verse loud chorus and all.
Similar Artists: Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, and surprisingly Puddle Of Mudd. Though I hate them, they seem to have copied the Nirvana sound perfectly.
Coolest Thing About Them: If you listen to them you can fit in with all the white trash, trailer park kids from my school.

Band Name: The Who

Genre: British Invasion/Hard Rock

Your Rating Of Them (1-10): 10

Best Album: Quadrophenia

Songs:
- Best All Around: Won't Get Fooled Again
- Loudest/Hardest/Most Rockin': Won't Get Fooled Again
- Most Relaxing: Blue, Red and Grey
- Most Played/A song by them you may have heard: My Generation
- Song That Best Represents The Band: Won't Get Fooled Again (Haha)

- Bands Like This Band: Led Zeppelin/The Kinks/The Beatles/The Rolling Stones/Queen

- Coolest Thing About This Band: Their amazing instrumental energy and prowess; they are a fantastic live band. Their musical experimentation in and evolution from the mid 60's to the late 70's is astounding. Every Who album has something special and different from the other, and I can't undersand anyone who doesn't like them.

Name: U2
Genre: Alternative, Rock, Electronica, Pop
Rating: 7

- Loudest: "Vertigo"
- Most Relaxing: "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For"
- Most Known: You better know a damn U2 song.

THE JANITOR
Band Name: MATTHEW SWEET

Genre: ROCK AND ROLL (and a damn fine example of how it should be played)

Your Rating Of Them (1-10): 7 (yes I do have a problem with some people throwing all the 10's around like they are free)

Best Album: GIRLFRIEND

Songs:
- Best All Around: (Oh Jebus. To pick just one...)"Divine Intervention"
- Loudest/Hardest/Most Rockin': "Ultrasuede
- Most Relaxing: "Your Sweet Voice"
- Most Played/A song by them you may have heard: "Girlfriend", "We're The Same"
- Song That Best Represents The Band: I'm gonna stick with "Divine Intervention"

- Bands Like This Band: The Beatles, T-Rex, Neil Young and Crazy Horse (just a pinch)

- Coolest Thing About This Band: He really has a sound that is sort of a throw back to a kind of 1970's rock and roll. Good rocking rhythms, nice hooks in the chorus of songs and just right guitar work in almost every song.
When she walks she moves so fine like a flamingo
Crimson dress that clings so tight She's out of reach and out of sight

Me too, I wouldn't even give the other four bands in my top 5 favorites a 10. Well maybe McCartney or Dylan, but Nirvana? Nah...

Name: Leslie Feist (or just Feist)
Genre: Vocal, pop, acoustic, indie, singer-songwriter
Rating: 7
Best Album: Let It Die
Songs:
- All Around: "Leisure Suite"
- Loudest: "Mushaboom"
- Most Relaxing: "Now At Last"
- Most Known: "Mushaboom"
- Song That Best Represents The Band: "Inside And Out"
Similar Artists: Cat Power, Broken Social Scene, Sufjan Stevens, Stars, Belle & Sebastian
Coolest Thing About Them: Her album Let It Die is one of the best vocal performances of the 2000s, and has a sparse, mellow sound. Another beautiful artist I recommend to daring listeners on ASR.

Band Name: The Lovin' Spoonful
Genre: Folk Rock, Rock, Pop

Your Rating Of Them (1-10): 7 or 8

Best Album: Daydream or Hums Of The Lovin' Spoonful

Songs:
- Best All Around: Do You Believe In Magic?, Summer In The City
- Loudest/Hardest/Most Rockin': Summer In The City
- Most Relaxing: Younger Generation
- Most Played/A song by them you may have heard: Do You Believe In Magic, Daydream
- Song That Best Represents The Band: Do you believe in magic?

- Bands Like This Band: Not sure, they had such a different sound
- Coolest Thing About This Band: The Spoonful was an AUTHENTIC band, they sounded like no other at their time, their sound was increidibly ecclectic for a band that lasted so short, no two singles they released sounded, not even remotely, the same. Also they were one of the few bands that knew their roots and blend it with their music, that's another reason for their different sound. They were just one of the coolest bands I've heard.
The only drawback is that they split too early and they're albums, while good and very enjoyable, were not a big masterpiece.

Band Name: The Brian Jonestown Massacre

Genre: everything from shoegaze, rock, indian, arabic, psychedelic, alternative, folk, acoustic, country, etc

Your Rating Of Them (1-10): 10

Best Album: Give It Back!

Songs:
- Best All Around: Servo, Nevertheless, Got My Eye On You, Going To Hell
- Loudest/Hardest/Most Rockin': Not If You Were The Last Dandy On Earth, Vacuum Boots, Servo
- Most Relaxing: Reign On
- Most Played/A song by them you may have heard: Not If You Were The Last Dandy, This Is Why You Love Me, Servo
- Song That Best Represents The Band: Well as you can tell by the genres, there's not one song I can pick that best represents this band, but most people are hooked when they hear Servo for the first time.

- Bands Like This Band: The Rolling Stones, The Velvet Underground, My Bloody Valentine, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Spacemen 3, The Who, The Kinks, The Pretty Things, The Byrds, Scott Walker, Charles Manson, Brian Jones solo, The Verve, MC5, The Stooges, T. Rex, David Bowie, Jesus & Mary Chain, The Smiths, etc.
- Coolest Thing About This Band: The coolest thing about this band is the diversity of the records. There's something for everyone in their songs. They were supposed to be 'America's answer to Oasis' (so sayeth Orange County Weekly) but that never happened, perhaps because of their self-destructive nature or their inability (or refusal) to conform to the wishes of the music industry, but God knows they could've and should've been the biggest band in America in the '90s.

You can pick up all their music legally for free at BrianJonestownMassacre.com, but they're in .ogg file format so you'll need WinAmp or a converter to your preferred format (both available at download.com for free).
