What is your favourite album since the year 2000? I'll have to think about that I'm thinking X & Y at the moment, but I'm not positive |

X&Y has been mentioned but it's been unsure. It's easily my favourite album in the past 6 years. It's personal. I was listening to it last night when my mom was driving around 9 to go to Wal*Mart. It's perfect at night, in headphones. The atmosphere isn't as deep or as shocking as OK Computer or Kid A by Radiohead. It's not a "early twilight sipping cocktails" feeling album like Coldplay's debut, Parachutes. It's stars in the sky, shining down on your tired soul music. Each song means something to me. Most of it pertains to this year, the conflicts and the troubles and the overcomings I've had with my dearest friend Maddy. I could explain them ("Square One" is a place her and I tried to get back to all year - and trying to go back instead of moving forward did us no good, ect) but they'd make no sense for the most part. Not to say the personal meaning is all that captivates me. I have no problem saying Coldplay are my favourite modern band because of this album. Chris Martin, though he's not the best vocalist, is powered by emotion, like that of John Lennon's voice. I can't even listen to "Fix You" without getting the feeling of breaking down. Chris talks to the listener throughout the album, he takes you on this emotional ride. The rest of the band are amazingly talented. Guy Berryman, bassist, has some simple yet very effective and wonderful bass lines in the album, something that I noticed very quickly listening. Their not very guitar heavy, they remind me a lot of U2 in that Jonny Buckland relys a lot of effects and strange sounds for his guitar playing. And drummer and multi-insturmentalist Will Champion keeps the band going in a very wonderful way. I love the high-hat on "Square One" a lot, and he also plays keyboards and slide-guitar throughout the album. It's a very wonderful album for me, I could go on forever about it. But I won't. X&Y is an album I'll always remember as a classic for myself. I wish more people appreciated it. |

Not counting compilations, I think the most musically valid albums since 2000 have been The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Coldplay, Oasis, and Red Hot Chili Pepper's efforts. Those would be: Bravery, Repitition & Noise ...And This Is Our Music Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants Heathen Chemistry Don't Believe The Truth Parachutes A Rush Of Blood To The Head X&Y By The Way Stadium Arcadium My favorite of the lot is Don't Believe The Truth. But, and as much of a 'tough guy' as I consider myself to be, certain songs off of Parachutes, (such as my favorite, 'Sparks') can nearly bring me to tears in my most vulnerable of moments. |

My friends call me Keith, but you can call me John. I was a rust repairer. I was a rust repairer and full-time survivor. I survived all the major earthquakes, and the Titanic, and several air crashes. Out here in the fields I fight for my meals. ![]() I Don't Mind Other Guys Dancing With My Girl. That's fine. I know them all pretty well. But I know sometimes I must get out in the light. Better leave her behind with the kids, they're alright. The kids are alright. | |

Ray Davies - Other People's Lives, definetly. Didn't get the popular acclaim as it's so common in the Kinks' hisotry, but it's still a precious little gem. 2006 is coming to an end and I haven't heard nothing that compares to it. |
