Either you do it, or we do it. Noel said he rather select the tracklist, name it, design it, etc. all himself instead of having some studio execs do it.

They probaly would have picked a more... well... better tracklist. A dead monkey could.

I'll let you know. Usually this stuff works in 'weeks', but sometimes they post info on who is expected to win based on sales thus far.

Beatles outselling Oasis in chart race
Monday, November 20, 2006
The Beatles still the best

The Beatles are outselling Oasis and U2 in the race to top this week's album chart.

Thirty-six years after they split, the band are heading for number one again.

Their Love album, soundtrack to the Las Vegas show based on their music, is just ahead of nearest rival Stop The Clocks by Oasis.

But there are only 200 copies ahead and Oasis could overtake them before the week is out, according to music chain HMV.

U2's 18 Songs is in third place.

HMV dubbed today "Super Monday" as the three bands release their greatest hits compilations.

Westlife are also in the running with their Love Album.

The four groups are expected to sell well over a million copies between them during the next few weeks as they battle it out to be the best-selling album in the run-up to Christmas.

"Based on initial sales, it looks like first day honours may just go to The Beatles, which comes as no surprise given the nature of their fanbase," said HMV's Gennaro Castaldo.

"But it may be that Oasis will sell more over the week to go to number one, while U2 and Westlife will aim to shift more copies over the Christmas period as a whole."

So apparently as of now there's no chance that Tom Waits is going higher than #5 and that George Michael will keep the #1 spot.

I'm glad we have some good musical sales to end the year - High School Musical's soundtrack was dominating for the longest time...

Oasis vs Westlife
(Tuesday November 21, 2006 04:09 PM)

Oasis are heading the race to claim the UK Number One album this Sunday, according to early sales reports.

The Gallagher brothers look set to compete with Westlife for the chart-topping LP, despite going head-to-head with U2 and The Beatles.

Apparently "Stop The Clocks" and "The Love Album" are outselling their rivals, having shifted over 50,000 each on the first day of release.

The Fab Four's "Love", which is a sound collage of their biggest hits produced by George Martin, is currently in third, one spot ahead of the new U2 best of "U218".

Liam insisted: "If you haven't got The Beatles by now you're not going to get it with that 'Love' album. I'm all Beatled-up!"

I know that says 4:09 and it's like 3:40, but obviously that's not from the US.

Who is this Liam idiot I always hear about? He sounds like a real jerk.

I really am suprised that Oasis and Westlife are ahead of The Beatles - they are absolutely terrible in my opinion, Oasis being the worst.

He's the singer, but I don't know how you can conceivably say Westlife is better than Oasis. 1) I'd bet you've never heard them (even though you'll probably counter this by saying you have) and 2) they're like the British version of those crappy boy bands from a few years back that ceased to exist here in the US.
