John Kerry is a fucking retard.

I don't think it's being blown out of proportion, because people do the same thing with Bush all the time.

Just because people do it when Bush says something stupid, doesn't mean it's not been blown out of proportion.

And I don't think that Kerry is a "retard" by any means. He has a bachelor's degree from Yale University.

And your last comment was thoughtful Eric.

Wow, you've got something more and more thought out to say each time.

Or you could have just not responded to my comment, and left it alone, thus avoiding this whole thing

Eric is entitled to his opinion. Even if it does disrespect one of the most important people in the country.

Then again, why are we still listening to this guy? I mean Kerry obviously has as much useful insight as a rock (get it? A rock, like Iraq?) Sometimes people should realize that A. People don't want them speaking on their behalf and B. that they know how to offend lots of people very easily.

i really don't understand why anyone cares. i don't think it was a big deal. i don't really see how it's funny, but it's still not a big deal. he's just a guy. i'm sure people say stuff like that all of the time, he just happens to be known. it was more mean then anything.

It was of course not a good idea saying something like that to the public... but for the most part its kinda true. I know some 15ish people who joined the military, & it wasn't because they wanted to risk their lives for the country... it was because they are poor & didn't make good enough grades in high school to go anywhere afterwards. (Not that everyone in the military is like that). You have to admire them for risking their lives for their families, but I think they originally made the choice to go for the benefits.... because of their financial situation.... at least where I am from.

yeah. that's why i don't think it's such a huge deal. it's not a stupid statement because it is at least somewhat true. it might have been stupid to say it in public because people got angry, but the statement itself wasn't stupid. that's why i think it was just kind of mean.

LOL, my point exactly.
you guys all think its HILARIOUS when Bush says something stupid, but you cant suck it up when a democrat acts like an idiot.
it WAS a stupid thing to say, there is no getting around that. Even if many people do join the military for financial gain, you cant generalize. some of the most intelligent people i know are in the military.

so in conclusion, the comment was stupid (because of what he said AND that you dont say things like that when you are a us sentator)
and people like to whine a lot. politics is dirty, deal with it. democrats and republicans make stupid mistakes and both deserve to be ridiculed for it.

Admit it, Republicans have the same reaction when Bush makes a mistake, EVERY TIME.

if the statement was true why would you say it anyway? he wouldn't walk up to a handicap person and call them a retard so why would he say what he said about the troops?

God! It was a joke. People make jokes about things that are true all the time! You're acting like he just got up there and said "Our troops are stupid", when that's not what happened at all. It was a joke that Kerry made, an inappropriate joke that he had no business making in front of a crowd of people and TV cameras, that was blown way out of proportion (Yes, I know that the Democrats would have blown it up if it were a Republican...). If you or me made that joke, we'd forget about it the next minute. There wouldn't be a topic about. That sums up everything right there, there's no need to reply.
