Jon Stewart is my hero. Colbert, my idol. Oh and the John Kerry thing was blown way out of proportion. Luckily it did not have an effect on the midterms. Dem's still took the house and the senate.Wooo!! |

That's why he wouldn't be a good president. He's such a douche. (After that comment, anyway.) |

You know what I don't understand? How John Kerry calls the president dumb on one occasion and George Bush takes offense. But George Bush has been touring the country with a "Democrats: Just Say No" campaign. He's been saying we're "icky". ... |

LOL i love it yeah John Kerry is pretty dense. My sisters boyfriend called me up after he said that and was all "I went to Iraq because i believed it was right, not because i HAD to because i'm stupid. I'm going to school, and i have a good head on my shoulders. Thank you John Kerry, thanks a lot." i know it was a "botched joke", but he should have apologized right away. and of COURSE people are going to make a big deal about it. lol i think its hilarious that the dems are like "everyone is blowing this out of proportion" *whine whine whine* when Bush says something stupid its all over the news. No difference here. |

I think everyone is blowing it out of proportion. And it's a joke I know, but there's truth to it. That's what makes it funny. 5/5 of the people I know that have went to or are in Iraq did it because of the benefits the military offers. They didn't do it out of the kindness of their patriotic hearts. They did it because they had no money and it was what they saw as their best route. |

i know quite a few people over there/ who are going there. and none of them went out of necessity, but rather out of patriotic duty. i'm pretty sure neither of us can make generalizations about the army as a whole based on the people we know. But joining the military because of the benefits doesnt mean they lack education or arent smart anyway, so it doesnt matter. but again, no people are NOT blowing it out of proportion. any stupid thing a politician says will be all over the news, democrat OR republican. Even if Kerry didnt mean it, it was insulting. |

That's true, it would be all over the news no matter which party it was. But you've got to admit in this case that Republicans were trying to use in their favor as elections were right around the corner. |

Kerry was in freaking Vietnam. He fought there and won 3 purple hearts. Many of his friends were also in the military. What do you think? |
