"I'll be back" -- Ahhnuld, as he muscles aside the democratic tide and swims upstream against the masses of Democratic girlymen throughout the state.

"It's fantastic, what I am doing now as Cullifornia's governor, and all that. It's the people who will reelect me. But Maria tells me I can not be president, so where do I go from here den?"

Hey! I voted for Rick Perry, and I'm a Democrat!

I wouldn't vote for Kinky because not only would it be a wasted vote, as I suspect even ol' Strayhorn will be him out, but I don't see how someone who sells action figures, says "de-wussify Texas", wants to put Willie Nelson in office, free druggies and dealers, etc etc.

Kinky is trying to appeal to those who don't show up at the polls anyway. He's trying to appeal to kids with his FaceBook and MySpace pages, his cartoons, and some of the shirts he has. That's why he'll lose. Kids have the lowest voting turnout rates.

Not to mention, and I've said this before, I don't want Average Joe up there. I don't want the good 'ol cowboy running things.

Oh well, whether I want him to win, whether I want him to lose, he'll lose. Rick Perry will win.

Of course Rick Perry will win. We live in the good ol' red state of Texas. :estoycansado: But that doesn't mean he should win. I hate the shape the Texas public school system is in. Not to mention the fact that teachers in Texas get paid dirt. And I don't believe his ideas on border control will work.

Also (taken from vote-smart.org):

GOVERNOR RICK PERRY REPEATEDLY REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANY
RESPONSES TO CITIZENS ON ISSUES THROUGH THE 2006
NATIONAL POLITICAL AWARENESS TEST WHEN ASKED TO DO SO BY

Key national leaders of both major parties including:
John McCain, Republican Senator
Geraldine Ferraro, Former Democratic Congresswoman
Michael Dukakis, Former Democratic Governor
Bill Frenzel, Former Republican Congressman
Richard Kimball, Project Vote Smart President

Over 100 news organizations throughout the nation also urged their candidates to supply their issue positions through the National Political Awareness Test.

What's that about?

Kinky's an intelligent man despite some of the gimmicks he's used to run. And I agree with getting the drugies and dealers out of our prisons. They're taking up space and wasting our tax dollars.
If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there.

I'm not saying that Kinky isn't smart in general. But politically he's not so smart for trying to play on gimmicks and to appeal to those who don't vote.

Plus, Perry signed a $2,000 pay raise for all teachers (which is good as I'm trying to be a history teacher), and created the country's biggest merit pay program to reward educators who make the greatest difference.

well i voted. :dodido:
republican across the ballot and then no on the gay marriage ban and death penalty referendums

i wonder how much corruption there will be this year
the dems in wisconsin are notorious for selling votes for cigarettes, slashing republican party vehicle tires, voting twice, three times, for dead people, etc.

oh well, yay for civic duty! :US:

Ok. I live in Virginia, where the (Republican) congressmen are sneaky underhanded bastards.

We must agree to disagree here. :regular:

Well, I voted.

Rick Perry has won.
Kinky came in last place out of the big four.
The Dems won the House.
And as of right now, it's dead even in the battle for the Senate. Go Dems!

If the Dems pick up the Senate, then all is good. We just gotta start workin' on '08.

Well, it looks like Jim Gibbons is the new governor of Nevada! Yeah!

He narrowly beat out Dina Titus. He had 47% of the vote, while Dina titus had 42%, I believe.
...und keine eier.

yeah, as expected it was a Democratic sweep of WI
and the gay marriage ban went through  boo

Nationally:
I think it will be REALLY interesting to see how the new democratic majority in the house (and maybe the Senate) will deal with the new slew of more conservative democrats in congress. Some of these dems are pro life, anti-gay marriage, etc.
Also, it will be interesting to see if the dems will be more bipartisan and work with the president on Iraq.
And, what course will we go on Iraq? will there be enough of an anti-war democratic majority to do anything about it?
Will MORE troops be sent (the solution brought forth by some dems), or troops pulled out? (and again, will they have enough anti-war democrats to do that?)

How will this affect the 2008 race? it could go both ways. if the dems get control of the house and congress, it could give them a bump in 08, but if they dont do much it could be pretty bad for them.

this stuff fascinates me :nerd:

so Rummy is gone. i'm sure a lot of you will be happy about that.
i'm a little worried about the direction the military will be going, and how that will affect friends/family i have over there.
