It's the fact that many bands with only four people make great music , many of them better than U2. Actually, most three-piece bands are tighter and play better than other bands.

Says the biased Rush lover.

I love U2. How do they make such great songs with just 4 people?

:estoycansado:

Is it 3?

5?

Well, I was just talking about U2, not other bands in general. I know there's other 3-piece bands that can make good music too, but I wasn't placing U2 above anyone.

I'm not HUGE on this group, but I'd say I'm a big fan. Here are my top 5 favorite albums by them:

1. The Unforgettable Fire (1984)
2. Achtung Baby (1991)
3. War (1983)
4. Zooropa (1993)
5. Pop (1997)

Those last 2 are among their most experimental albums. I like to think of Achtung Baby, Zooropa, and Pop as U2's "Berlin Trilogy" in a way.

My list is similar, except I have Boy in place of Zooropa.

I only have All That You Can't Leave Behind and How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. I like them, but I can tell they have better.

All That You Can't Leave Behind is actually a good album, just a bit disappointing coming after that whole experimental period. It kinda sounds like a retread of The Joshua Tree. Still, it has some pretty great tunes.

Their last one was awful.

U2's music is great, Bono's ego and voice kind of bring it down. In the mid-80's they were great though IMO (War and The Unforgettable Fire). Their three albums from the 90's are my favorite period of their music. Achtung Baby is excellent.

Not a fan. But I used to like the first four tracks from their album All That You Can't Leave Behind, I in fact bought it when it was released but that was a long time ago... I think mainly they suck ass.

U2 is ok, i like a few of their songs, havent listened to enough to give an in depth run down on them. Bono just gets on my nerves.....i dont know why. a part of me thinks he does the charity stuff mostly for publicity.

Most of you who think U2 sucks probably haven't heard these three albums:

Achtung Baby
Zooropa
Pop (there is pretty much no pop music on this album, this album is by far their most experimental)

I suggest that any of you who are not fond of U2's hits, to check out any of the above three albums. Listen to Achtung Baby first though.

Believe me, I used to think U2 sucked ass, but after I listened to those three albums, I liked them much better. Like I said I'm not a huge fan, I'm not even really a big fan either, kind of casual. I REALLY like the three experimental albums though...
