For me, The Who are the greatest live band ever. No one comes close to the power and rawness that they had on stage. No contest there.

That being said:

Favourite song live : A Quick One - The Who (live at the Rolling Stones Rock 'n' Roll 1968). Nothing touches this.. nothing

Here's the clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SixiiGBru6E

Favourite live album : The Who - Live At Leeds. Never has the spirit of rock 'n' roll been captured so brilliantly in one live set.

Call me a Who freak or whatever but those are my choices.

The drugs don't work...
That performance of 'A Quick One' on the Rock N'Roll Circus was amazing. It really is the best live performance I've seen by anyone (unless I forgot something else).

About favourite live album, I don't know if I would give it to the Who since I have yet to hear 'Live At Leeds' in it's entirety, so until then Im going with the only live album I have... 'Dave Matthews Live At Red Rocks'. I love the album and I find myself listening to it from time to time. The do a cover of 'All Along The Watchtower' but it's a bit 'meh' cus I don't like the way Dave sung it, but the band played it awesome.

Studio version of "Naked Eye" is a lot better than the live versions, IMO.

You just said it for me. :pwn:

I like Badfinger as a live band too, but sadly most of their great concerts were not documented. But I love those I own on CD.

Perhaps Cream's "Crossroads".

I love it so much. It builds up and before you know it you're caught up in the middle of a tornado. The bass, drums, and guitar seem to each be soloing at one time, it's pretty cool.

Only downfall is that the vocals are a little weak (Bruce should have done it), and it's too short.

Also, every live Doors song is worth a mention, and a live version of "Moby Dick" from Led Zep I heard one time was just nuts.

You'd actually all be surprised to know it, but McCartney is actually one of my least favourite live artists from the groups I like.

I really like Pink Floyd - Is There Anybody Out There: The Wall Live it's just mindblowingly awesome, but at the same time, the Who are a kick-ass live band. Leeds blows me away every time

I forgot all about "Crossroads". I think that's my favourite as well. The Doors, from the album they released in 1970, well, I don't like it. I'd need more to concider them great.

And the reason I don't like Macca live is he's made it into a show, where he tells all the same jokes, ect. The music is killer, I think his current band is his best one since The Beatles. But he needs to spice it up a bit.
