"Blue Morning, Blue Day" is a very good song and there are many good songs to listen to from this band. You may consider me rather like that one cool uncle some people have. The uncle who tells you stories of your dad and I getting into trouble when we were younger and who lets you go through his albums, borrowing a few except the really good ones. I think you and I have had some agreements and differences of opinions concerning various musical artists so I am sure you will weigh all that after reading another way too long post from your "uncle beatlematt". Here is the short and then I will let you decide if you want to continue reading: Yes. Foreigner's albums are worth listening to. Since we know that you have at least listened to the "Records" compilation and really enjoy "Blue Morning, Blue Day". My compilation is a darn good depiction and representation of the good songs you can expect from the group, with maybe three of four excluded. Now the long: I do only own four or their most successful albums: 4, Head Games, Double Vision and Foreigner. These are the albums that spawned the most singles of the '70's and early '80's and probably every song on that "Records" compilation. On each one of these albums, I find about half of each album solid music to enjoy. In other words, out of four of their albums, I really enjoy 50% of their music. Which is not bad, I think. There are I think three other Foreigner albums they released that I do not have which did serve up at least three more "radio/MTV classics". I admit I have not given those two albums fair consideration and interest, being satisfied with their earlier works, really. In 1981, Journey and Foreigner released albums that would become very popular with us youths at that time. One of those albums was Foreigner's "4". This is probably their most recognized album to date for good reason. Everybody, even girls, either had a copy of this album, played it's songs constantly on the jukebox in the arcades or sung the songs as they skated with friends in the "rolladiums". Since you are at least familiar with the "Records" "best of" album I can tell you that "Long, Long Way From Home" would be my favorite from that release and along with "Blue Morning..." be in my top four Foreigner songs list. You know as well as I do that noone can tell you what you like. You may like brocolli and I; not as much. However you should at least consider listening to the rest of the songs on "Foreigner", "Double Vision", "Head Games" and "4" or just download the songs on my compilation to get a bigger bite than the "Records" disc. |

Another one of Matt's huge posts. Earlier today, I bought 4 on vinyl for two bucks. I also found Foreigner and Double Vision at the same music store (for two bucks each), and I even had the Double Vision in my hand, ready to purchase. I don't know why I didn't buy them. Maybe I didn't want to get to "Foreigner-ed Out" in one shot. Well, I can always get them some other time. I'll give that fourth album a shot soon. |

What do you think about your Foreigners choices by now? Short post 'cause it's all about you this time. Now listening to "Feelin' Alright" by Grand Funk Railroad. This one has been recorded by more than a few artists. Hasn' tit? |
