I think it depends on what artist you're listening to, but I think I like Stereo more, cause on some songs I like to hear the vocals on one channel and the instruments on another, but mono is still alright |

p.s. i wasn't aware that capitol's "stereo" on The Beatles Second Album was synonomous with 'make the songs sound like total shit' |

Stereo all the way. Not only do I hate listening to things in mono, but recording things in mono as well. In mono, it all sounds like crap to me because it's all sharing the left and right equally and it feels like everything is trying to fit in together and it sounds real... dry. Stereo, however, keeps your mind on both the left and right channels, everything sounds more clearer, and nothing seems to be squeezed together. |

It depends on what I'm listening to. If, for example, it's Sgt. Pepper's, then mono. With other stuff, stereo. |

Mono. When I'm listening to mono, I know I'm hearing it exactly the way the artist intended it and it's easier to appreciate the production merits of the music since the artist/producer has to be able to layer the vocals, instruments and other overdubs. I find mono to be more powerful too. It takes a really good stereo mix for me to prefer it over the mono, and unfortunately, most stereo mixes are really, really sloppy. Of course, this only goes for music up to the late '60s. After that, it's all stereo anyway. |

My Beatles Trading Post (Updated Regularly) "George had just come off tour, I'd flown in specially from England, Ringo had flown in specially, too, I think, and John wouldn't show up! He wouldn't come from across the park! George got on the phone, yelled, 'Take those fucking shades off and come over here, you!' John still wouldn't come over. He had a balloon delivered with a sign saying, LISTEN TO THIS BALLOON. It was all quite far out." -Paul McCartney | |

I really don't give a crap, but it really depends on the type of music your listening to. For instance, things with lots of production and cool effects are much better in stereophonic, but old-school stuff like The Beatles are just as good in mono. |

I'd have to say stereo for most things, it just gives it a bigger, more natural sound. Although some stereo mixes sound terrible when they have hard pans with little or no reverb. |

I like stereo, but sometimes it hurts my ears with headphones. I know "Taxman" is really awkward. Scientist - Dance Of The Vampires |

I generally prefer stereo, seeing as most of the music I listen to was, uh, originally mixed for it. |

You know what stereo mix I find great through headphones? "Dear Boy" by Paul & Linda McCartney, off Ram. The lead vocals are hard right, and you have all these different parts panned all over the place, yet it somehow manages to still sound coherent. |
