I have. I didn't know you liked them until very recently. Hell, I didn't know anyone here liked them aside from me, so I didn't even bother bringing them up here. Seriously, Johnny Marr's beautiful and often upbeat music mixed with Morrissey's depressive, introspective, and often hopeless lyrics sounds like it shouldn't work. But it does. It works very, very well.

I have but How Soon Is Now was my favorite. Pretty Girls Make Graves is good in my opinion as well. Speaking of the Smiths, I have to get some more songs.

Holy crap other Smiths fans! Do you want to hear my story? Well too bad, you're hearing it anyway.

My Smiths journey began on the Wedding Singer soundtrack. I thought that "How Soon is Now?" was a pretty cool song. I didn't venture further into the band.

I then read "The Perks of Being a Wallflower". In the story, the boy, Charlie, really loves the song "Asleep". (One of my faves too now, by the way). I still don't venture into the band.

I'm at my CD store. I'm looking for Sex Pistols. I pick up "Never Mind the Bollocks", and something else catches my eye. It would be "The Queen is Dead" by The Smiths. I pick it up, remembering the song "Asleep". (I was pissed later when I realized that it wasn't on the album, but then...)

The album sucks. I hate it for about 2 weeks. Finally, "I Know It's Over" comes on shuffle. I listen to the words, I love. I still sing that song in the shower. I listen to the album more and more, and finally, it grows on me, earning its spot as my Second favorite album of all time, where it will stay. It's earned like, Tenure or something, it can't get off that slot.

I listen to the song more, memorize it nearly, and determine how long my shower is by "The Queen is Dead" songs I sing. (I Know It's Over, Frankly Mr Shankly, There is a Light that Never Goes Out, Bigmouth Strikes Again. Then my shower ends ;D)

I still listen to the Smiths, I bought a bunch of CD's, all but one or two, bought a biography on Morrissey, and delved deep into the eargasmic guitar shenanigans of Marr, and the pained voice of Morrissey.

It's a good story, lol it seems like The Smiths were forcing themselves in your life but you wouldn't take notice.

Yes. It does seem like the poetry of Morrissey was looking for me. Kind of a cool thought, eh? Well anyway, Smiths related things that made my day bad, I'm reading "Saint Morrissey" by Mark Simpson, a biography of Morrissey. It's study hall, and I pick it up and my friend sees the picture of Morrissey with no shirt on, in a sensualesque pose. My friend call me gay. He calls the book gay. He calls me a fag. I throw a stapler at him and walk out.

Just kind of pissed me off.

Hate me, do it and do it again.
Have their whole discography after I learned bands like Radiohead and Belle & Sebastian love off Morrisey. I need to listen to them more, I was fairly impressed with them after not hearing them for so long.

Excellent band. Their discography is virtually perfect (well, the second half of Strangeways kinda sucks, but the first half makes up for it.) Moz/Marr are certainly one of the best songwriting duos ever. I could say so much about these guys, but it's probably already been said. I love them.
