i sense a lack of love for The Allman Brothers Band here!

i'm just wondering if they're anymore fans than me.

Idlewild South is one of my favorite albums, and midnight rider is one of the great songs of the 70's

anyone?
dirt, sweet, and filthy....

Hate me, do it and do it again.
Haven't heard much but I like what I've heard. I should listen to more southern rock. :dodido:

Our jazz quintet is playing 'In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed' with yours truly on guitar. We wanted to play it at the Sydney Opera House (performing there 6th September) but we wouldnt have it done by then.

listen to the live version of that song. it contains the most orgasmic solo of all time. orgasmic in the sense that the guitar is mimicking the sensation of an orgasm. he starts off slow, building it up with tension for about 5 or so minutes, then at the end fucking blows his top, and hits these ridiculously high notes. when i first discovered that song, i almost cried, lol.

I have.

Despite it's greatness, Leeds may have it beat. :cigar:

I'll have to listen to both again though.

I have. I think Live at Leeds is better.

I like The Allman Brothers Band a lot, I got the four discs of Dreams, Fillmore East and Hell and High Water. Their sound is fan-fucking-tastic, lengthy songs by them (In memory of Elizabeth Reed for exemple) are just an orgasm of music to me.

THE JANITOR
I just got the albums "Eat A Peach" and "Wipe The Windows, Check The Oil, Dollar Gas" within the past two months bringing my total only to three albums but still have not heard anything as absolutly brilliant from the guys as the studio version of "Whipping Post".
I have sampled other live, Filmore concert versions of "Whipping Post" and indeed at times during live performances Duane or later Dickey Betts played a little too much slide guitar badly. Granted, both could play some very nice electric southern blues and good jams but "Whipping Post" from their first album is one damn good tune.
