Hate me, do it and do it again.
My love for Oasis has certainly died down since around June. Listening to (What's The Story) Morning Glory like two times a day every day wasn't a wise idea, now I find the album to be a bit boring and nothing too special. "Wonderwall" has grown to bore me, the nasal vocals are slightly annoying, and there's not many songs I enjoy off the album anymore.

I also dislike Definetly Maybe, I hope no one ever called this group "alternative", because every track off the album (save "Married with Children") sound the same and it's just not a fun listen.

I enjoy the other two albums I have of theirs', Be Here Now and Don't Believe The Truth, the latter being my favorite by the group. They're a fantastic group, but listening to them too much is a bad idea.

I like some of their stuff, but not the biggest fan. Always liked Blur more if were gonna go Britpop.

Blur's ok, but Oasis defined BritPop, and were the band that took it overseas.

I'm betting the new greatest hits compilation that's coming out in November will get me back into the group. :cigar:

Aren't they great?

No they're gospel...the word of the chief

thanks be to our kid

Speaking of compilation, there had better be B-Sides that weren't on The Masterplan, othewrwise screw it, because they haven't confirmed if "Stop the Clocks" is on it.

Yeah that can happen, too much of anything tends to dilute your liking of that anything. Like for a while, i'd listen to Be Here Now over and over again, then it got to the point where I was like, "Bah! I'm trying something new". That's when I went to NYC and bought Standing On The Shoulder of Giants, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's Take Them On, On Your Own.

Standing at first, seemed weird, and kind of down, and like sad, but after a while you really get into the shoegaze and psychedelic experimentation they went with. Although, it felt short, and almost unfinished.

Then I got Heathen Chemistry and Definately Maybe. I loved both, Heathen felt like real Rock 'N' Roll, a little bit like they kind of went for a sort of nostalgic approach or a classic rock sort of deal. Gem Archer and Andy Bell brought a sort of edge to Oasis, which they hadn't had since DM or since a few B-Sides and some of the stuff off of The Masterplan.

Definately Maybe was like, the one and only time I felt there was a sort of message in an Oasis album, the one time I felt as though they had something to say. It was raw, it was their first album. It was a young, up and coming band, that didn't care what you thought because, they were gonna be Rock 'N Roll Stars. They, much like the youth of the time, didn't see a reason to have to amount to anything, and that all they perhaps needed was some booze and drugs.

Then, Don't Believe The Truth, well, it felt like Morning Glory, but a little bit less. I dunno for me it didn't live up to what I expected and what was hyped. I saw all this shit like "OASIS IS BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER!!!" and I was like, ok, maybe its their second coming of sorts, and it may have been for the UK, but in the U.S., mainstream speaking, it was just another album that people neglected to pay attention to, and another album which people would never hear of, and make them still ask "Hey Oasis broke up right?".

The Masterplan, my god if it wasn't for the fact that its a compilation, i'd say thats my favourite album, and in my opinion, the best. But, I can't consider it an album, because of the fact its a compilation, so like, its a gathering of songs, from different times and eras of the bands success, so to like the album, you'd have to listen to the single it came from and like it in its own right, as well as the album that the single was from. But its good.

Btw here's how I started out listening to Oasis:

1. Various Music Videos between 1995 - 1997 when I first got MTV & VH1
2. Many years later, around 2003 or 2004, I bought Morning Glory
3. I bought Be Here Now, around late 2004
4. I bought Standing on the Shoulder of Giants in March of '05
6. Definately Maybe and Heathen Chemistry around April, May, or June of '05
7. Don't Believe The Truth sometime around its original release
8. The Masterplan, sometime in March of '06 (this year)

I dunno, i'll come back and edit this when I feel like saying something about Morning Glory or Be Here Now

Morning Glory is the best album of the '90s dude, and Don't Believe The Truth > SOTSOG and Heathen, but not the firs three.

Almost identical to mine.

6. Heathen Chemistry
5. Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants
4. Don't Believe The Truth
3. Definitely Maybe
2. Be Here Now
1. (What's The Story) Morning Glory?

The reason DBTT is touted as a comeback album is because pretty much everyone considered it to be far greater than their last two efforts before it. I think the follow-up to DBTT will be at least as good as DBTT, but they will learn from some of their mistakes and make it even better.
