I believe in doing what I can.

what I dislike about some parents is they've started this, "What would you like your punishment to be?" crap.. THAT IS NOT PUNISHMENT letting the child pick and choose.. and what kind of kid is going to say, "I want my punishment to be.. 2 weeks of grounding and a basketful of swats." UGH those people make me so mad. |

The drugs don't work...

Children have completely lost their minds today. Most of my friends from school are so addicted to Myspace that they check it every day. And then when someone says "Myspace sucks" people say "Fuck you! That shit is awesome!" and defend it like it's their own mother. And T.V. nowadays is showing shows and music videos filled with more sexual references and more women shaking their asses and shit. And girls these days pick up on that and do it. And I son't know what you think of it, but to me, it makes them look like whores (sorry for using that word). But it's really quite scary to see girls do that now like it's nothing. That's why it's so hard to find a girl these days that's sophisticated and nice and acts like a REAL woman should. |

the only thing we can hope is that the parents are doing their best as parents. if they're a bit more involved there's less of a chance that their kid's gonna do something stupid...i certainly wouldn't let my kids watch and listen to the garbage on tv and radio these days. there's enough airheads in this world already.... |

true parents: Marge: Have you noticed any change in Bart? Homer: New glasses? Marge: No...he looks like something might be disturbing him. Homer: Probably misses his old glasses. Marge: I guess we could get more involved in Bart's activities but then I'd be afraid of smothering him. Homer: Yeah, and then we'd get the chair. Marge: That's not what I meant. Homer: It was, Marge, admit it. |

People, you have to keep this in mind. Half the world is and always will be full of assholes. Thats the negative percentage that balances out the good people. its just the way the universe works, its all balance. |

The biggest thing affecting the way children behave now is not the media. I believe people are getting smarter generation by generation and no matter what kind of crap is on the television, people can make their own decisions about whether it's crap or not. Also, I don't see a problem with kids being on the computer. I think it's amazing that a five-year-old should be able to use the internet. Or a ten-year-old knows how to do powerpoint presentations. The computer contributes to and is the result of, children becoming smarter as the years pass. The biggest thing affecting the way children behave is really just the fact that people are busier now than they were in the past. Being too busy for your children sounds awful, but society requires it these days. Work takes up a lot of time, both parents usually work now (unlike in the old days when just one parent worked), and it's usually not an option for one parent to stay home. The cost of living is simply too high in most places. Both parents have to work. But this leaves less time to tend to all the children's needs. So usually there is a good deal of time, between when the kids get out of school and when the parents get home, that the children are not being supervised. And OF COURSE, kids are going to get into trouble. It's been happening forever. (Hence the older-than-dirt-saying, "When the cat's away, the mice will play.) To solve this problem, kids should be enrolled in some kind of extracurricular activity whatever that may be. This way, they're need for attention is being met and they are learning a skill, or being part of a group, or performing some sort of social service. ...my opinion... take it for what it's worth... which is about... a quarter and a half.
