Rare Cult 7 disc box set - $235

I love the band, but I cannot spend $200 on The Cult (unless hookers are involved)

This is example is probably not what the topic's originator had in mind, though is it?

$33.57 a disc. :cigar: You may need multiple hookers for it to even out.

I love the Beatles but a lot of their songs sound the same. (mostly early work)

I love Radiohead but sometimes they just have crap songs in the middle of a album for no reason what-so-ever

I love Pink Floyd but they have these long streachs of instrumentals that just repeat (only some of them)

I love Disturbed but EVERY FUCKING SONG HAS EXACTLY THE SAME SOUND. Even if they have great lyrics.
My body is a cage. That keeps me from dancing with the one I love, but my mind holds the key.

I love the Stone Roses so far, but come on only two albums released. With so far no possiblities of a reunion.

Ian Brown is said to still be angry at his former colleague John Squire for leaving the band and as such is unlikely to consider a reunion in the near future. In September 2005 a reunion looked a lot less likely, as Ian Brown commented to several journalists that "there's more chance of me reforming The Happy Mondays than the Stone Roses." Happy Mondays in fact have reformed, but yet Brown appears pessimistic about a likelihood of any reunion. Fairly recently, on Soccer AM, bassist Mani jokingly claimed that the Stone Roses would reform "The day after Man City win the European Cup".

I love The Rolling Stones, but why did they have to rip off the Beatles on Satanic Majesties?

Oh man, here we go...

Contrary to popular belief (and this belief is mostly by people who don't actually LISTEN to the album or give it an objective listen), The Stones DID NOT rip off Sgt. Peppers on Satanic.

It's psychedelia, but it sounds nothing like pepper. If anything, it has that more spacey, cosmic sound which is akin to Piper or AYE.

Buh, underrated as hell. Has some brilliant melodies and well formed songs, just gotta give it a chance.

I don't see how anyone can deny the album art rip off.

I love Nirvana, but I think that they don't have much of a variety.

One point for little Billy.
That was a good one.

But what would be wrong with a little pillow fight between Stevie and what's her name? Uh, Christine. That was it.
When she walks she moves so fine like a flamingo
Crimson dress that clings so tight She's out of reach and out of sight

Christine wasn't hot. She was too old.

I mean, 4 years, two albums and only 23 songs (including Silver Springs)? >:(

Totally agree. I was gonna write a whole long response to that when I saw you had already done it for me somewhat.

Their Satanic Majesties is NOTHING like Pepper and has a sound of its own that no other album had. The second 'Sing This All Together' sounds a little Piper-ish, but that's about it. The Beatles could've never written 2000 Light Years From Home or gotten that mellotron sound. Mick and Keith were more open to having world music on their record, so that made room for Brian Jones to play instruments such as the sitar and sarod on a few tracks (Gomper) which gave it an otherworldly vibe Pepper did not have. I love Pepper more, but Satanic Majesties is far better than Piper and has less filler than Are You Experienced (to me). There's stuff going on in that record that nobody else had on theirs, mainly because they couldn't.

Nobody else had Brian Jones.

Yeah but who gives a shit?

I think the similarities are really small, its just a very colourful cover, but hell, so was like every other album coverv in 1967. People already have this 'its a rip off' mindset so they will try and see it as a rip off in that sense.

Album similarities?

1) There are no famous people aside from the stones themselves on the satanic. 2) the satanic cover has references to the songs (citadel, albedaran planet) while Pepper doesn't. 3) the beatles names are spelled out on the satanic cover, but that might be a 'thank you' to the beatles for putting the stones on their album cover (welcome the rolling stones, good guys).
