That's how I feel about Belle & Sebastian, for some reason. They're not nearly as influential as old Bob and everything, but I really think they're an amazing modern group and it's great to give their CDs to friends at school, to discover music they probably would have never heard of or passed by without yourself showing them. |

Madelaine, though she only likes one song, made me download a Mindless Self Indulgence album, their newest one. Totally better than Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy, and is about less than half the time. |

Bob Dylan - while at work we listen to sirius and i actually got hooked on some of his tunes after despising his work so long. so i listened to some albums. The Beatles - my cousin used to play a select 10 or so of their tracks a long time ago. then in 2000 i think beatles 1 came out so i burned it. got really into that stuff. Queen - this best of queen CD my dad has had sicne i was a kid. i played the hell out of that thing before their was internet and i got into the albums. AC/DC - i always lsitened to them like a few tracks but i had a friend whos favorite band they were so after playing pool with him a lot and that being the main music i got into them a bit. Rush - they were a mix of my dad recommending a few songs he thought id like and my friend billy who said check out moving pictures. The lovin' Spoonful - through my record collection i got from my dad i found them. id always known summer in the city but i found a best of album and played it... and played it some more and more. lot of good stuff. never knew john sebastian of the welcome back cotter theme was their singer before then. The Zombies - completely by mistake this one. i accidentally downloaded the wrong song on Limewire at the time. i ended up really digging the track and ended up listening to a lot more of them. Electric Light Orchestra - this again was based off of a few song recomendations from my dad. when i was a bit younger id often dodge stupuid named bands (yea i judged books by covers too) and unfortunately great bands like this slip by you. |

the only band someone else got me into would be pink floyd. a girl i used to be friends with bought some of their albums and made me listen to them. all of the older bands i like would be from listening to the normal radio, sirius radio, or launch on yahoo. newer bands would be from appearances on late night shows, videos, or seeing them open up for another band i was seeing live. |

Pink Floyd: When I was working at Sears Appliance Outlet, one of my co-workers (also my friend) listened to them and I was like "ahhh, Pink Floyd...I don't know man...Pink Floyd?" and when PULSE came out on dvd, I went to the store to buy it for him for his birthday and I saw DSOTM and I thought hmm....so I got it. Didn't listen to it until 2 months later and then I got WYWH and didn't listen to that until a month later. Love. The Beatles: For a long time I was like "The Beatles Suck!" just because a lot of kids were like that before listening to them. And then my folks and I went to a Best Buy and it was around the time where 1 has been out for almost a year, and I asked the sales person what's the best place to start and he said "1" and I got it. Fell in love. Ten Years After: I've heard of them before because my dad has two cds by them and a vinyl of one cd. I never heard them...until Christmas last year when Woodstock (The documentary) aired on VH1 Classic and I heard their infamous song "I'm Going Home" and I was floored. I also got into CSN by watching Woodstock too. |

The Beatles - Funny story. I met this kid on the bus named Brian, who loved a ton of classic rock, and we were talking about music. I knew almost nothing of most the bands he talked about so I decided I would get informed. I called Eric and told him about wanting to listen to some Beatles sometime, and he said that he also recently heard a Beatles song and wanted to hear more. Eric bought an album, "1" and we listened to it. I loved a ton of the songs and so did he, we liked The Beatles for a long time and slowly Eric just became more and more of a fan, then he told me he found this forum called Shabby Road, and the rest is history. Radiohead - I've liked Radiohead since I was four, off and on I listened to songs of theirs over and over again. I never had a CD of theirs but I loved Karma Police and whenever it was on the radio I would blast it. I downloaded the music video and I loved that too. My sister showed me Street Spirit (Fade Out) and I have been a fan ever since. Simon And Garfunkel - My mom loves S&G and one day I heard Sound Of Silence and loved it ever since, I gave Eric their greatest hits album so I should SO get some credit for getting Eric into S&G. Pink Floyd - Pink Floyd was a band that I wanted to listen to ever since I saw an infomercial selling The Greatest Hits Of Pink Floyd album, I wanted to hear an album of theirs ever since, and when Eric started getting into Pink Floyd so did I. |
| My body is a cage. That keeps me from dancing with the one I love, but my mind holds the key. | |
