In this age of electronics, I was wondering if there was still a way to MAIL, like, snail-mail, a letters to Paul and Ringo.

It's kind of stupid, but I've been looking for a way to mail them an invitation for my sister and brothers' to their birthday/graduation party. It's more of a joke, but it's good for a fan to send anything, and if there's a chance in the world that either one would come, I'm taking it!

So if there are actual addresses, for fan mail or something— I don't want to butt into their personal lives too much— I'd appreciate it if you could post it here, PM, or email me it.

If you could, I would love you forever. Whatever that's worth.

:peace:

Let us discuss if there are conscious criterias met when we consider who are our "favorite" musical artists; "second" favorite musical artists, and so on.
What does it mean when you say The Beatles are my favorite artists or Pink Floyd is my fourth favorite artist and how do you arrive at these conclusions and should physical proof be neccessary?
For instance, The Beatles are my favorite group because I enjoy listening to their music far more than any other musical artist. I am very familiar with all of their songs and own all their albums. I can listen to any of their songs at anytime and be entertained.
But does this mean that you have to have the majority or all of their albums for them to be your favorite? If you have 80% of their albums and 90% of another bands albums would that mean that they are your second favorite artist? If you are more familiar with the music or another artist but enjoy listening to it less are The Beatles still your favorite artists?
What do you say?

Criteria for my favorite artists:

- Musical talent
- Enjoyment/entertainment while listening/watching
- How big of an influence the band has on me
- How familiar I am with the artist

I'm sure there are other factors on this topic, as well. The Beatles have cemented their place on the top of my list forever, though.

It has to do with talant.
the qualtiy of the music and the quality of the lyrics, as a whole. every musician has, i'll call them, off moments, but if as a whole the musician has good music and good words, that would make them goo. plus, looks and wit help. :P

Ha! I finally found it myself! I dunno if they really work, but it was that chance I was talking about.

And if any of you all are interested, here are the links.

It doesn't look like Paul's signing autographs, but who knows? You'll at least get a form letter!

Fan Mail Paul!

But Ringo seems to be quite a generous chap.

Fan Mail Ringo!

I think it's worth waiting 3+ months.

Yeah man, I love Wish You Were Here. It's really a dancefloor tune!

For me it's about songwriting. I don't care about anything but how well the song is written and executed. I couldn't give a shit about a 20 minute blues guitar solo from Clapton or Allman or whatever. I rather listen to I Am The Walrus 20 times in a row. If the song is written well and executed well (that means the instruments are arranged and performed properly) then I don't really care for much else.

Sometimes I take a step back away from my music habits and think about my favorite artists and why I say that they are better than some other band.
For instances: Pink Floyd in comparison to Cheap Trick

Now I think I have liked these two groups about the same amount of years and while I do not like all of Pink Floyd songs, nor posess all their album; the songs and albums I do like are fabulous.
Cheap Trick on the other hand I have all their albums and have a liking of the majority of their songs. So how is it that I like a band enough to have all their albums but not like the band more than another band that I do not like enough to have all their albums.
You see what I am getting people to talk about.
I mean a lot of you use some crazy dialectic math to rate songs and albums and whatever. So if I total up my comparisons of the Pink Floyd albums and songs that I know or have, presumably the number would be somewhat greater than the total of all the Cheap Trick factors. The few would outweigh the many.
Do any of you ever look at your collections when it is time to ask yourself "who are my favorite artists?" and say "well I must like The Who because I have almost all their albums and not like Led Zeppelin as much because although Stairway To Heaven is my favorite song, I only want four of their albums"

I definately see your point. The Beatles will always be number one on my list, and Queen will always be number two, regardless if I ever find a band better than them. I was thinking if Rush was my second favorite band, whom I may like more than Queen, I would feel like I'm letting Queen down. For some reason, I don't know if I want to admit if a particular band is better than another band.

When I think about my 'favorite band,' I immediately think of the Beatles. I say this because I feel that I not only love the songs, but they are critical part of who I am. When people ask about my musical tastes I say "Beatles..and some other stuff too." If I was to do it scientifically, I would do some ratio of songs that I love/like vs. total songs. In that case, the Beatles would be the obvious winners. When I list the other ones (Mamas and The Papas, etc.), I consider what else makes me happy when I listen to whatever band.

I don't have a favorite band...I have ones I really really like but I dont think I have a favorite. Each band does differnt things for me so I look at them from that angle. Like Pink Floyd is a great band and of course it doesnt have to be mentioned that the Beatles are but I dont compare them becsue they do two completely different things for me and the one same thing of giving me musical enjoyment but yeah.

Sorry I am rather dilerous at the moment doppe up on cold tabletsd

Hate me, do it and do it again.
Generally if a band has a strong group of albums that have a guitar featured, I'll listen. Vocals are another big part, though I've been becoming a bit more open when it comes to that, but generally if it's not too strange I'll appreciate them. Lyrics aren't eh biggest piece but someone with thoughtful lyrics that fit the mood of the music adds a lot to it. The basics, usually. If they have a good sound I'll listen to them soon after or just repeat the album, but if not, it takes me a while to re-listen, or sometimes my inpatient nature comes in and I just delete the album.

Apparently, Queen will not "always be number two". Rush jumped in front, and Queen is in the three spot.
