"Hello there ladies and gentlemen. Are you ready to rock?" One of the most successful American bands in music history. They still tour and have the original members and music formulas. The first skinny tie band to make it huge have been at it for nearly 30 years and you all owe it to rock and roll to have at least one of their records in your collection. Talk about Cheap Trick. |

I have their Greatest Hits collection. They are a very fun band to listen to, I think. |

Look out!
|
I saw them live when I was like ten years old. Those old men could still rock. |

I have all of their studio albums, most of them on vinyl and I highly recommend the "Sex America" collection as a great starting point for those interested. My favorite album is "Next Position Please" but favorite song? No way. Can't do it. Lead singer Robin Zander put out a great solo album like ten years ago and has one of the best voices in rock and roll music. I have seen them perform live more than five times and I think some of you could really enjoy some of their early albums. |

Ok. Your “to do list” for this week is to listen to more Cheap Trick. I know how some of you like to draw analogies and name drop. Nirvana, Soul Asylum, Smashing Pumpkins and even Stone Temple Pilots have remarked that Cheap Trick were their most formidable influences. The rock rebels delivering the musical goods for post punks in-training. I have long been torn between the bands early albums before they had actually tasted the stadium arena rock air and the MTV rich pop culture that some of you have grown up to believe the band represents. Not that there is a vast difference. The 1980’s did somewhat force the band to accept songs and ideas that were not of their original plan and some of those paid off for the band so the success was bittersweet. However in the late ‘70’s they were doing things their way and just working hard at making music and fun. For me, the best Cheap Trick of the ‘80’s were the two releases, “Next Position Please” and “Lap Of Luxary”. The best Cheap Trick of the ‘70’s were the two releases, “Dream Police” and “In Color” This will give you some idea of how far the band has come and how the band just keeps working hard delivering the musical goods. |

I have been listening to their album "One On One' quite a bit recently. It is one of their best I think. Just filled with great songs and energy. I also have explored a darn good Cheap Trick fan forum as well: http://www.cheaptrick.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi Hello.("Hello" echoes) (crickets chirping) Is there anyone here? ("Is there anyone here" echoes) (crickets chirping) Hey! ("Hey" echoes) Now batting fifth... ("Now batting fifth" echoes ) Way down inside... ("Way down inside" echoes) Woman (Woman) You needa (You needa) Loooooooooooooooooooovvvvvvvvve (bracka bracka bomba bomba) |
