THE JANITOR
QUOTE (Drummerboy @ Oct 7 2006, 03:13 PM)
I downloaded a cover of 'No Rain' on Limewire that said the cover was performed by The Dave Matthews Band, but the singer sounds nothing like Dave Matthews. Either way, it's a great cover.

QUOTE (White Collar Boy @ Oct 7 2006, 03:23 PM)
That's why I don't like Limewire. Some things are named wrong, so you think you're getting a song by someone and it's totally diffrent.

This is a problem I think at most file sharing services. I admit that I have rarely downloaded but have friends that do download and have witnessed many times the errors in song titles and artists. Even a song like "Imagine" I have seen titled as The Beatles.
Of course it is easy for most on this forum to point out the errors and misinformation of spreading songs titles but there are people out there who , and this will kill some of you, simply do not know who sings what song or what the name of that song really is.
Hey I'm not good with math and some people are just not good with remembering artist's names and song titles. But it is no less frustrating.

Exactly. It's sharing, not stealing.

I believe that bands would rather have more fans than a couple of more cents that they can spend on their million dollar cars and houses.

Well, if you're keeping the files, which most people do, it technically is stealing, because it is not being paid for.

I think the copyright laws are stupid. Yes, Bill thinks they're too strict but are too bland to be enforced. I don't do it because it's illegal.

Wanna know the truth? At times I honestly wished I used torrents or whatever. Because it's easy and free. But I don't, because I would be breaking the law.

Sorry, but downloading the latest Green Day album is not breaking racial barriers.

I use it as a means to decide whether or not I should purchase something. I'll download it, and after a couple listens I decide I like it, I'll delete it and then buy it. If I don't like it, I just delete it and save the money.
My Beatles Trading Post (Updated Regularly)

"George had just come off tour, I'd flown in specially from England, Ringo had flown in specially, too, I think, and John wouldn't show up! He wouldn't come from across the park! George got on the phone, yelled, 'Take those fucking shades off and come over here, you!' John still wouldn't come over. He had a balloon delivered with a sign saying, LISTEN TO THIS BALLOON. It was all quite far out." -Paul McCartney

Downloading the latest Green Day album should put you in jail. Not because of the download, but because it's Green Day.

But seriously, lighten up a little bit. E X P A N D your music collection so you can talk with us about the bands that we all know. "The law" is holding you back from the greatest songs of all time. Also, what am I stealing when I download? MP3 files? Files aren't matter. They have no mass, therefore they cannot be stolen.

Good point, but we don't always have to argue. If you really want to argue, we can argue about your opinions on the new music that you will listen to.

Now How Many of you Pirate music i know dean does. I do.
Now this is why. I download music because it is to damn expensive to buy a cd anymore. and the artist only gets something 5% percent right? I think its bullshit. and i wouldn't mind if the albums were like $5 for an album and the artist got more money than they do now. But it's bullshit. i Pirate music because 1.I'm too poor to buy the albums. 2.Music should be for the love of music. At least thats what it was way back when there was good music. unlike now that "ghetto" stuff that sucks pretty fucking hardcore.
Thats why i listen to music because it sounds good and it prolly has some connection to something going on in my life or something.I listen to it for the beautiful flow of words and melody that go along with it. Not this new stuff that is all screaming and ghettoness.
Now do you pirate music.Am i the only one that thinks this way?:cigar:
