Wish You were here....such a sad song

How about that starry starry night song? It always makes me sad
...and somebody spoke and I went into a dream....

well when i write something like.

i like to watch the stars go by
and moon creeping alive
with its silvery eye
yes i'm pilgrim

that's something with a dose of absurd and it's not question of emotions. but some others well....

That's a good example (Wish You were Here) I find "Dark Globe" to be pretty emotional, personally.

bump, cause i think this is a good topic
someday monkey won't play piano song, play piano song

Songs always convey emotions, but not necessarily the emotions of the musician and/or the songwriter. Writing lyrics is like writing poetry- often poets will assume the role of a character and write from that perspective. Thus, the emotions portrayed are that of the character and not the author of the verse. In many instances the author will put elements of themself into that character, but just as often, the author may completely leave their own personality and bias out of the lyrics :)
