Speak for yourself. People have a right to voice their own opinion. I'm a fan of Brian Jones. Why would I want to stay away from his music of general legacy? That's an ignornant statement that you made.

No, I'm just kidding. I get what you're saying. But still, this topic has been fun.

This thread has coincidentally run alongside a growing love of mine for Brian Wilson's work and life story. It also, however, has run alongside my growing interest in The Rolling Stones' catalog (I've picked up 12 Stones albums or so since this started). However, in all honesty, I find myself listening to the Stones because it's nice to have on and fun to hear, but go more to The Beach Boys material to have my mind blown.

George got on the phone, yelled, 'Take those fucking shades off and come over here, you!' John still wouldn't come over. He had a balloon delivered with a sign saying, LISTEN TO THIS BALLOON. It was all quite far out." -Paul McCartney

Yeah. Stoned is considered to be a very inaccurate portrayal of Brian Jones' life. Though I'm a big fan of Jones, I think the movie's just garbage. They barely used any Rolling Stones songs and the ones they did use, were nothing but covers. The movie's more just like an excuse to show Brian repeatedly having sex with girls, and it jumps to the conclusion to definitely say that he was murdered by Frank, which hasn't been proven (though I'm not saying that isn't what happened, I'm just saying we don't know).

Great to hear you've taken an interest in Brian's work. Just out of curiosity, what album(s) do you consider to be your favourite(s)?

You obviously can't detect it either since he was obviously being sarcastic, too.

Or who knows, actually. His favorite thing to talk about is Brain Wilson's penis, so who really knows...

Honestly, of the Stones work as a whole, Some Girls might be my favorite album. But limiting it to the Jones era, I suppose I'd pick Between The Buttons, Aftermath and maybe Let It Bleed. To me, The Rolling Stones are a rather consistently solid group, where there's no obvious album that I'd pick over the others....and I think that's a good thing. But I'd go with those three for Jones' stuff, even if he was a little more limited on Let It Bleed. I was a little let down by Beggar's Banquet. But, like just about every group outside of The Beatles, it takes a while for me to get into the music, so it's all very subject to change. Those are just the albums that stand out after a couple months of serious listening.

Let It Bleed is hardly Jones, he plays harmonica on Midnight Rambler (thought that absolutely kicks ass) and he may play slide on a couple of songs...

wrong.

Mick plays harmonica on Midnight Rambler.

Brian plays guitar on You Can't Always Get What You Want (it was recorded immediately after beggars banquet was finished), autoharp on You Got The Silver, guitar on the single Honky Tonk Women, and I know for a fact he plays on Monkey Man but I can't remember what. He also plays percussion on Midnight Rambler.

I just researched to try to clear this up as to what exactly Jones played on Let It Bleed, but I've found several discrepancies.

According to the Rolling Stones' official website, Brian did guitar, percussion, autoharp, harp, keyboards, and vocals on Let It Bleed.

According to this knowlegable Brian Jones fan site's "Play List" section, Brian played on "Let It Bleed", "Midnight Rambler", "You Got The Silver", and "You Can't Always Get What You Want". But, in the sections that individuaally list each instrument (or type of instruments), there is only listing of Brian playing percussion on "Midnight Rambler" and autoharp on "You Got The Silver".

To quote Wikipedia's article:
Quote:

Brian Jones performs on two tracks, "Midnight Rambler" and "You Got The Silver"

In the "Track listing" section:
Quote:

6. "Midnight Rambler" – 6:53
features Brian Jones on percussion (inaudible)
7. "You Got The Silver" – 2:50
Keith Richards' first lead vocal on a Rolling Stones song; Brian Jones plays autoharp

So, as you can see, the information is a bit conflicting, but what we know for sure is that Brian played autoharp on "You Got The Silver", but he obviously did more than that. All I mean is that's what we have confirmed for sure.
