Okay, this topic is now pretty much just SmokeyBandit trying to have some fun, so I'm pretty close to closing it. |

My Beatles Trading Post (Updated Regularly) "George had just come off tour, I'd flown in specially from England, Ringo had flown in specially, too, I think, and John wouldn't show up! He wouldn't come from across the park! George got on the phone, yelled, 'Take those fucking shades off and come over here, you!' John still wouldn't come over. He had a balloon delivered with a sign saying, LISTEN TO THIS BALLOON. It was all quite far out." -Paul McCartney | |

don't close a good topic because of one person. I'll post some more intelligent points on why I prefer Jones to Wilson in a bit. |

I'm listening to a few samples of the music he composed for A Degree Of Murder, and even though it's low quality bootlegged stuff, it's fucking awesome. He was great at integrating all kinds of cultures together through music. One second you hear something Ravi Shankar could've played with a McCartney-ish bass line behind it, the next you hear chunky Chuck Berry rhythms with harp or organ over the top and face melting electric guitar. |

I'm not that big a fan of Brian Epstein. He made a lot of really bad business deals, which years later eventually resulted in Paul McCartney having to pay money to play his own songs when he goes on tour, among other royal fuck ups. Brian Wilson was the leader and main creative force of the Beach Boys up until he went insane around the smile recordings and stuffed burning wood into buckets to set the mood for a song called 'Fire'. his complete creative dominance over the beach boys declined a little in 1968 with the 'friends' album, but not as much as their popularity in america did. Brian Jones was the founding member, guitarist, multi-instrumentalist (they rarely used studio musicians, and when they did it was because of a shortage of tracks), and in the early days their leader. His creative control slipped around 1965 when The Stones found out he was getting paid more than the others, including their manager (5 pounds sterling more because 'he was their leader') and for the most part they kept him out of songwriting. When he was included in the songwriting process, or when a musical idea that came from him developed into a song (Ruby Tuesday, The Last Time, 2000 Light Years, etc.), they kept him out of the credits. |

This thread's a battle between [the fans of] Jones and [the faggots who masturbate to pictures of] Wilson (Okay, I shouldn't have said that, but what i said not in brackets is still true). Don't bring anyone else into it. To you other guys, I know my blow-up doll comment was immature, but I did find it funny. We should (if we're still gonna seriously continue this discussion) actually post intelligent posts (though I know I'm the main one who's been a real jerk and dissing Wilson). Also, in response to the comment by Guest about A Degree Of Murder's soundtrack, I've heard those snippets, too. Brian Jones' music was awesome. Does anyone here have that full soundtrack bootlegged? Anyway, yeah... |
