I need to get more music by these guys...

Simple. Pretty much only one purchase is neccessary:

The Kinks Pye Album Collection

Their first 9 studio albums, plus Live At Kelvin Hall.

Mine will ship soon. It's a really good deal for ten CDs.
Genius at work.

I have everything from Face to Face to Muswell Hillbillies.

I'm downloading all of those now. I'm looking forward to hearing them, I heard "Lola" on the radio and that's what reminded me of the group, so yeah!

I'm listening to Misfits right now..... I think if you can you should also download that album, to get another glimpse of their work in the 70s, and it's a fantastic album.
Just a recommendation. To everyone that likes the Kinks too actually. :peace:

Songs of the week:

"Celluloid Heroes" - from One For The Road
"Better Things" - from Give The People What They Want
When she walks she moves so fine like a flamingo
Crimson dress that clings so tight She's out of reach and out of sight

It's a good version, so are 20th Century Man and Stop Your Sobbing from that same album.
Ray's new album is out have you listened to it?

I hope this does not offend you but I have always preferred The Pretenders version of Stop Your Sobbing. The original seems very pale by comparison.

I also got to hear a sort of tribute album last week called This Is Where I Belong (2002). Do you have this one?

I'm not offended at all, I also think the pretenders version is better.
And yes I also used to have the tribute album, it's nice, I didn't fall in love with it thiough, but I did liked it, there was some nice version and also somes I didn't like. It got accidentally deleted though, I'l ltry to re-download it.
Try getting Ray's Working Man's Cafe, it's really good.

"Lola vs. Powerman and the Moneygoround pt. 1" saw a level of obsession when I was 13 or so. I have "The Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society" too and it pleases me quite a bit. I never really had any desire to check them out beyond those two.

I actually like Arthur the best, everyone else seems to prefer Village Green. I dunno, maybe because I heard Arthur first, that might be it. I think it is more varied and as a whole more interesting than Village Green as well.

I apologise to all the Kinks fans here, but I honestly don't see what all the fuss is about, they just sound like an average rock band from way back when to my ears.
