I just listened to The Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society, and I just realized how good they are again. Now, I'm listening to Something Else By The Kinks, and as the second track, "Death Of A Clown", comes on, I couldn't help but notice - Does anybody else think that the intro and throughout the song, sounds like "With A Little Help From My Friends"?

It does, actually.

I never liked "Death of a Clown". I guess I'm not a Dave Davies fan.

I think it's not Dave's best, I mean it just doesn't stand up comparing it to Living on a thin Line.
Death of a Clown intro does look like With a Little Help from My Friends. I personally like it but from Something Else I'd say my favourite track is Situation Vacant... what do you think of it?

I like "Situation Vacant". It sounds Spencer-Davis-like. You know? As for my favorite off the album: "Waterloo Sunset" or "David Watts".

Waterloo Sunset of course! the lyrics are just... fantastic! David Watts is great, fantastic lyrics and the drums on the song are also very good.

Coca-Cola. How dare the BBC make Ray change his lyrics.

Hey, has anyone heard of the album Come Dancing With The Kinks? I just bought it at a yard sale yesterday.

yeah I've seen it, I was really close of buying it.... but since it's just a collection Ifigured I could get the albums instead. But it 's a great collection I have to say.
Oh yeah and Coca Cola.... they make a big deal out of NOTHING.

Thanks to Jeff I have now Everybody's in showbiz! Thanks Jeff
The album is great and so are the C and D sides which are all live. I recommend this if you don't know much of the kinks as live performers.

There's this part when Ray says: Now I wanna warn you the next number, is a heavy number I hope you can take it.... and he starts playing Acute Schizoprhenia Blues hahahaa I thought that was pretty funny.

So the 80's Kinks are not bad at all, but certainly nowhere near their 60's and 70's era, but this video and song is still good.

The Kinks - Predictable

Nice and funny performance of Alcohol:
the kinks - alcohol

i love the kinks, and over the summer i was able to see ray live. it was really cool because it was free and i was in the front row. he sounded really, really good. i was shocked by just how tiny he is, being both short and very, very skinny. he was really happy and made a lot of funny jokes.

You achieved my dream. I hope I get to see him live at least once, but that's not likely.

Well I just came here to post this small documentary about them, it has it's funny parts and talks a lot about the rivalry between the Davies. Enjoy:

The lyrics are pretty clear:
"And I'm glad I'm a man and so is Lola" Thus Lola is a transvestite like Dean said.

Now listening to "Possum Kingdom" Toadies great little album they had there in the 90's.
When she walks she moves so fine like a flamingo
Crimson dress that clings so tight She's out of reach and out of sight
