I've been meaning to do this topic and remembered now, and concidering I have nothing better to do, I shall post it. So basically, what music do your parents listen to? Did they get you into your music? Do they listen to more recent stuff than you? Do they like the big Polka bands? Post plz. My mom really likes Bon Jovi, which makes me sick. She's a fan of The Beatles, Rush as well. Doesn't really like The Who or Floyd much. My dad on the other hand, has gotten me into a lot of the stuff I like. The Beatles, The Who, and he really enjoys The Beatles' later stuff ("Let It Be" is his fave album). He also got me into Floyd (by saying he didn't like them), but Maddy, Paul and Eric also got me into them, as well. He also like Not Paul McCartney's solo stuff (he's the one who brainwashed me into a Paul fan, haha). So... yeah. |

My mum and dad got me into old music. They saved me. My dad loves Beatles' and Beatles' solo stuff as does my mum, after a year of listening to nothing but that, I guess my dad finally got sick of it, and led toward other musicians. He has a fucking shitload of vinyl so he mostly went through all of those, and that's how I got into The Stones, Dylan, Zeppelin, Bruce Springsteen, U2, Tom Petty, Neil Young, America, Zombies, Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye, Kinks, John Mellencamp, Doors, arseload of One, Two-Hit wonders from the Sixties, Ronettes, Phil Spector's Wall Of Sound, etc. My mom got me into Simon And Garfunkel, The Drifters, The Temptations, Janis Joplin, and Jefferson Airplane. I then heard Coldplay's "Speed Of Sound" on the radio, so I started downloading their stuff. My dad loves them, and for Xmas he got me Parachutes and A Rush of Blood To The Head on CD. My dad just got me into The Bee Gees, Journey, Jethro Tull, and Harry Chapin so we're still going through his jumbo vinyl collection.
Now, my sister is starting to get me into some newer stuff like Velvet Revolver, Kanye West, OutKast, Jay-Z, etc. My uncle has a bigger music collection then my dad so he got me into David Gray, Eagles, Steppenwolf, Cream, etc.Sorry, about the long post. |

Well, my dad is strict when it comes to music. When I was younger, he'd call rap crap(which it is). I soon learned to avoid rap. Then, I got into The Beatles. Every other artist I've gotten albums from, he doesn't really like. His favorite band's The Doors, and they're cool. My mom, well...erm. She really doesn't listen to music. |

My mom's favorite artist is Billy Joel, and my Dad like Billy Joel (too) and Chicago. |

My friends call me Keith, but you can call me John. I was a rust repairer. I was a rust repairer and full-time survivor. I survived all the major earthquakes, and the Titanic, and several air crashes. Out here in the fields I fight for my meals. ![]() I Don't Mind Other Guys Dancing With My Girl. That's fine. I know them all pretty well. But I know sometimes I must get out in the light. Better leave her behind with the kids, they're alright. The kids are alright. | |

My mum loved the Beatles, so I grew up with that. She played the softer Beatles song to me when I was a baby and I was just raised with them. It was a suprise to find out one day that they wern't around anymore. My Mum was also into David Cassidy and every one hit wonder the 80's offered and of course so much disco. I seemed to have blocked that from my mind if she ever played that around me. My dad was a Floyd fanatic. Thats how I got into them I suppose, I grew up with them also. My dad was also heavily into the Velvet Underground, Clash, Zeppelin, Stones, Sabbath and most bands of his era. |

This is your dad! Get your ass off the computer when I have told you to clean the basement! Or go outdoors every once in a while. And leave my albums alone. 99 cent fish sandwich and Kanye West. Genius! |

my mom, she listens to all this weird, slow stuff, like dean martin, barry manilow, nat king cole, mickey gilley, johnny mathis, and englebert humperdink.(that strawberry fields/penny lane number 1 spoiler) my dad listens to the stylistics, the bee gees, chicago, don mclean, billy joel. they both like my kind of music and always like it when i bring my cds along for a long car ride, but it's not their favorite. |

i think its natural for parents to not like the same music as their kids because when i first started listening to the beatles they both turned country but now my dad is about half classic rock and half country which is a 50% improvement |

i credit my pops for my musical tastes. He loves Black Sabbath, Rush, the cars, likes the beatles, zepplin, the guess who, and alot of classic rock. I've grown away from some bands he likes though (mainly AC/DC, who by the way suck) My Mom's musical taste however is brutal, and the bands/singers she likes are not even worth posting |
