Well, the Mayans believe something of huge proportions will happen that year.

The apocalyps. A huge meteor collides with Earth. That's highly unlikely though 'cus NASA would've picked up on it.

If we could just join hands..
So that's what's supposed to happen in 2012. Oh well.

Also, the point about NASA picking up on it is quite true. We've picked up on meteors that have a chance of hitting us in 2029. I think we would've found this one already.

Damn Mayans.
Mild apprehension.

Fuck 2012. According to Back to the Future (reputable source), we were supposed to have flying cars and hover boards in 2015! Where are those?!

Wrong. NASA and all the sky-viewing agencies out there can only monitor a very small percentage of outer space a year. There could be one heading towards us by next year that we wouldn't know about now.

I disagree. Don't know why. I just disagree.

People have said that bad things were gonna happen on certain dates in certain years in the past, and nothing ever has. I don't see how someone can say, "oh yeah, this is definitely gonna happen in this year".

Who cares? If something bad happens on that date, I want to look back and say "I enjoyed the 22 years I had", not "I wish I'd spent less time worrying about the end of the world". Besides, the last mass extinction (as far as I'm aware) was 66 million years ago (the one involving the dinosaurs). Our species has existed less than one million years, and has had a somewhat accurate concept of astronomy for less than ten thousand. What are the chances of another mass extinction occurring in such a small window of time, when they are separated by tens of millions of years?
