Be sure and tell her...
WOIIFTM is such a great album.

I used to listen to it every day, no joke.

(and Aaron, I'm going to borders today.)

I think you can get the 2 for $22 deal on VU&Nico and TQID.

Considering they usually sell classics like those fairly cheap since nearly everyone has them.

Or everyone should have them. :cigar:

HUZZAH!

Finally I shall hear the music of my brother in eyebrows, Morrissey.

Oh yeah, they had TQID, but they didn't have VU & Nico, so I got White Light/White Heat instead.

I added some albums by Pink Floyd and King Crimson back to iTunes yesterday, that I deleted because I didn't listen to them much. But I listened to Starless and Bible Black by Krimson and enjoyed it all over again, it's such a rocking album, rather heavy for the time. Also listened to a little bit of Atom Heart Mother on my iPod late last night and remembered how good it is, I even like "If" a bit more now, though I think the other two contributions by Rick and Dave are better.

I really don't understand what's so great about Starless. It's too straightforward for me. I needs me some prog rock wank!

I do love Fracture, though.

The Raspberries were an American band from the early 1970's that most likely very few of you have heard of. I was given a copy of the self titled debut album Raspberries several years ago and rarely got past the classic radio hit from the release, "Go All The Way". I have been giving the album some listens from time to time these past two weeks after recording it to disc.
You might think the band was British as they do sound an awful lot like very early Wings and even Badfinger. The more successful song in their short career was the single from this album, the aforementioned "Go All The Way" and to some ears you would think it sounds at least like Paul McCartney had something to do with the song somewhere. And even a few other songs on the album have another band member on vocals that is clearly not good and you can see why this guy does not sing more often so I equate it to a song that they would give Ringo to sing or say that it sounds more like The Iveys.
Now I am not saying that if you like early Wings or the Ram album and most of what Badfinger produced you will love this album. But you can definitely hear similiarities in the music and vocals.

when i was 16, i was a huge jason schwartzman fan (still am) and therefore a phantom planet fan. i was never super fan of the band, but i really enjoyed "the guest" and knew all of the lyrics and everything. i saw them live back then and had a good time, but mostly spent it thinking that i couldn't believe i was near jason schwartzman. so, eventually jason quit the band and "california" because the theme song to "the o.c." and that was hard for me to handle. since i was never obsessed with them in the first place, and now they had entered the lame world of "the o.c.", i kind of lost interest and stopped paying attention to them all together.
so, over the weekend, they played a free show at michigan state university. my sister goes there, so i went. now i feel retarded for ever ditching them in the first place because i had sooooo much fun. i downloaded their self-titled album that came out after "the guest" and man oh man do i like it. i like it more than i ever liked "the guest." and i also revisited "the guest" and enjoy it more now than the 16 year old version of me did. i'm so pissed that i have missed out on a few years of prime phantom planet, including when alex greenwald had his long hair and was one of the most beautiful people in the world. not that he's not attractive with short hair, but when it's long he's pretty much unbelievable.

It had been a number of years since I have listened to my April Wine albums.
20 years ago, my friend and I would got to a few used record stores almost monthly grabbing up albums from a mental list which eventually included April Wine.
After a few listens of First Glance so many years ago, I became satisfied with only dusting off the album whenever I wanted to listen to the song, "Roller" and two others.
As some of you may have noticed, I have slid into a rather nice place between the rock and a Canadian place with a few bands from "the north", April Wine and Triumph.
Both of these groups have albums in my collection that have been going underappreciated for manys years.
Both April Wine and Triumph can be described as your uncle's classic rock bands. Triumph was a three man band with obvious comparisons to Rush without so much science in the lyrics. The musicianship of Triumph is not as good as Rush but the band should not be overlooked. Start with the album Allied Forces, Never Surrender or a compilation.
April Wine was more like a REO Speedwagon without the sappy love songs. Eventually having three guitarists for some harmony and the early "hard rock" sound. Recommend First Glance, The Nature Of The Beast or resort to a good compilation ultimately.

I listened to Surrealistic Pillow yesterday, which was fantastic. Before this listen, I never really liked "White Rabbit", but something changed and I enjoy it now. Great pop album.

The Flaming Lips - Clouds Taste Metallic, great album. I don't know whether you would consider it 'forgotten' but I certainly forgot about it.

Thinkin' one thing and doin' another
I gave Trout Mask Replica another chance. I like it more now, I guess you could say I'm at the "I get it" stage, but that doesn't change the fact that there is not a lot of variety on the album at all. About 25 out of 28 songs have the same set up and although there are alot of ideas, songs start melding into one another.

This may be my favourite drumming album ever though, insane.

Yeah... although the drumming may sound random, it's really all structured and thought-out... John French (Drumbo) is indeed insane on that album.

I listened to The Who By Numbers for the first time in a long while yesterday, and it's definitely now my favorite album by them. Say what you will, but it's amazing.

Today I gave Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon a spin, after listening to some songs in the car...It was better than I remember, a solid 8/10. Pretty good

Also, the Hollies' For Certain Because is an underrated masterpiece. Very Beatleesque, but not to the point where they sound too alike, imo anyways
