What are their best albums?

My library has Notorious Byrd Brothers, and I"m thinking of getting Greatest Hits, as it's only $8.

Only have their cover of Dylan's Mr. Tambourine Man.

I haven't learned much about the Byrds except that they were inspired by the movie 'A Hard Days Night' to use George Harrison's 12-String Rickenbacker, which eventually became they're own unique sound. And that they're cover of Mr.Tambourine man was one of the best Dylan covers (I seem to disagree). But I wouldn't mind giving them a listen myself.

You should get "Younger than yesterday" and "Sweetheart of the Rodeo". Both are great albums.

I don't like country music... at all. I was raised by my mom and sister loving it and I always despised it. And Sweetheart of the Rodeo seems to be hardcore country influence. I'd like to know, any other good albums by the group I should get instead?

Younger Than Yesterday, which is more folky and my opinion the Byrds' best.

I need to start my collection of Byrds starting with "My Back Pages" some stuff inbetween and ending with "My Back Pages".

Now listening to "I Only Want To Be With You" Me First and The Gimme Gimmes
hey sometimes it just works out that way. you know?

Crimson dress that clings so tight She's out of reach and out of sight

"Younger Than Yesterday", "Fifth Dimension", " Mr. Tambourine Man", "Turn!Turn!Turn!" and "The Notorious Byrd Brothers", but their country-rock stuff is pretty good, but I can understand you not liking it.
I dunno I don't listen to "pure" countyr music, but I do listen to some bands influenced by country-rock or country (The Flying Burrito Brothers), and I like them a lot.
Not to mention Muswell Hillbillies, heavily influenced by country, is my third favourite Kinks album.
Heh well you know opinions, even if you don't like country I think you'll find their early work pretty good.

Agreed. That and Fifth Dimension are my two favourite Byrds albums.

Here's the lowdown on the Byrds. Start out with Sweetheart of the Rodeo and the expanded Greatest Hits. If you dig their sound, you can start collecting from the beginning with their debut. This covers their whole type of music to dip into.

Even if you don't enjoy country music, Sweetheart might turn you on to it. Gram Parsons certainly has a way of doing that. (Get the issues of these albums with the bonus tracks.)

I much preferred their pre-country stuff. Get a greatest hits, see what you like more then go from there.
