Pete Townshend was my first guitar hero. When I heard him play that opening riff of I Can't Explain... well, I can't explain how I felt. This was only in around January, I got Then and Now!, it was my first non-Beatle album I laid money on, and I never regret. Watching him at Woodstock, the Isle of Wight, even now, at Live 8, he's an excellent showsmen for guitar. He also got me into the Gibson SG, my favorite guitar (which of I proudly own). And he's a damn excellent writer, right behind Lennon/McCartney for most influential on me.

*Way* Behind him is George Harrison, then Robby Kriger.

This was posted forever ago, but I still basically reguard those three as my big faves. Jimmy Page has since then become a hero as well, probably placed behind Townshend and in front of Harrison. I've also started to love the spacey sound of Coldplay's guitarist Jonny Buckland a lot ever since I listened to Parachutes one lonely night, and Johnny Greenwood is definitely up there as well. Noel Gallagher and his wall of guitars surrounding Oasis' masterpieces also makes him a very great guitarist, though his sound can be hard to follow at times.

I mean, if you play like me, you had better have your own band. Nobody wants that amount of participation from a bass player.

Randy Rhoads is my top guitarist. He made me pick up guitar. Gilmour, Hendrix, Page, May, and some others are close behind.

That's fine. I know them all pretty well.
But I know sometimes I must get out in the light.
Better leave her behind with the kids, they're alright.
