I already made the rock n roll list, here's the 60s list. According to the Beatles book 'Tell Me Why' "...The Beatles mainly shared the stage in popularity with The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan..." I agree with this statement. Problem is, there's only 4 heads on Mt. Rushmore, and The Beatles had at least two 'leaders': John and Paul, while The Stones had three: Brian, Mick and Keith. So in my '60s Mt. Rushmore, I'll put the founding member of each of those (John Lennon and Brian Jones), plus Bob Dylan, and Jim Morrison. Pete Townshend and Jimi Hendrix are close runners-up. '60s Mt. Rushmore: John Lennon - Founder of The Beatles Brian Jones - Founder of The Rolling Stones Bob Dylan - Singer/Songwriter Jim Morrison - Lead Singer/Songwriter of The Doors |

i think i agree with that in terms of 60's rock artists, if you can only choose one member from a band. i'd exchange jim morrison for jimi hendrix, however. |

"I'm not going to say anything because nobody believes me when I do." - Ringo " As usual, there is a great woman behind every idiot." - John "Us, communists? Why, we can't be communists. We're the world's number one capitalists. Imagine us communists!" - Paul "I think people who truly can live a life in music are telling the world, 'You can have my love, you can have my smiles. Forget the bad parts, you don't need them. Just take the music, the goodness, because it's the very best, and it's the part I give most willingly." - George | |

You guys, I think that a lot of people would learn who Roger Waters is after realizing or seeing him on Mount Rockmore. I mean, I knew who Teddy Roosevelt was before I had seen Rushmore. |

this is a cool topic, i found it while searching for a beatles "love" topic, which i am about to start since i cant find another one, although i was positive there already was one. but anyway..... ihateguitarists made a good point, it is an american monument, so it would most likely have 4 americans on it. that is both good and bad. it is bad because it would suck without lennons intellectual and ingenious face on there. it is good because that makes the decision way easier to make, and i don't have to feel bad about leaving a bunch of awesome guys off of it. im pretty sure it would be clear cut with these 4: chuck berry bob dylan jimi hendrix elvis presley chuck berry would have to be on it, being the creator or rock, bob dylan obviously, jimi hendrix is indeed an american, so he had better be on there, and while im not a fan of elvis, im pretty sure im like the only person in america that isn't so i guess he would be on it too. |
