“Temporarily dispensing with his sticks, Life Of Agony drummer and co-founder of Type O Negative Sal Abruscato takes up guitar/vocal duty for this captivating and dark album dedicated to deceased TON frontman Peter Steele. Kick starting with ominous horse’s hooves this soon transforms into a purgatorial odyssey of drug abuse, nightmarish deleriums and agonizing meditations on loss. Sounding like prime Alice In Chains throughout, these ashen songs – from the Burroughsian narcotic haze of ‘Heroin Train’ to the psychopathic discharge of ‘Serial Killer’ – are inescapably bleak. Yet, for music so clearly divested of hope, this still radiates soul, making it a stirring tribute to Mr. Steele. KKKK” – George Garner, Kerrang!, July 2nd 2011.
