ADRENALINE MOB same self released 2011 ![]() Well, I didn't really expect that. I'd kind of assumed that a band involving drummer Mike Portnoy, formally of Dream Theater and vocalist Russell Allen of Symphony X would involve prog in some form. I couldn't have been more wrong. Because this is raucous, groove infested, heavy metal, straight out of the Corrosion Of Conformity / Down / Pantera school of metal. Which is usually a good thing, and with the personnel involved here, it's more than good. The guitar work is amazing, and we'll be hearing a lot more from Mike Orlando (Sonic Stomp). He's assisted by Stuck Mojo / Fozzy guitarist Rich Ward with the bass coming courtesy of Paul Di Leo. The 4 original tunes are uniformaly excellent, with 'Psychosane' and 'Hit the Wall' my current favourites. Add in a closing, show stopping rendition of the Black Sabbath classic, 'The Mob Rules', and you're left with an awesome introduction. Here's hoping they hang around long enough to give us a full lenght follow-up. http://adrenalinemob.com |
