Album number two from the rock supergroup. Although supergroup is probably pushing it a bit, when you've got the drummer out of the Sex Pistols and the guitarist from early eighties glam rockers Girl making up two thirds of your personnel. You can't argue with Phil Collens credentials, though, seventy zillion albums and counting with Def Leppard, plus the twenty three copies that the Manraze debut shifted.

But he's back with Paul Cook on drums and Simon Laffy on bass, for another go, with the unfeasibly named "PunkFunkRootsRock". I say unfeasible, because there is a distinct dearth of funk and roots, although, and steady yourself for this, there is the odd outbreak of ill-conceived white boy reggae. However, when they stick to the rock part, they're not half bad. If you only heard the first three tracks - the single 'Over My Dead Body', 'I C U in Everything' amd 'All I Wanna Do', you'd be a very happy chappy. The first two are very Leppard like, with the latter taking a poppy, could be a hit single, sidestep.

The reggae-lite arrives with 'Closer To Me', and it really is dire. Not as dire as their cover version of the Jimi Hendrix tune, 'Fire', which arrives a wee bit further down the line. Although, it was always a rubbish song, so you're really just polishing a turd when you have a go at it. There are some good tunes on the second half of the album, with 'I, Superbiker', the best of the bunch, and probably as close as they get to punk anywhere on the album.

It's nice to see that a bunch of veterans still have some ambition and some fire, and fans of Collens main band will probably find this an enjoyable record.
