Hello. It looks like it's still 1994 over in Central Scotland. That must be the only excuse for a band so desperately wanting to be Oasis. But then that seems to be what an awful lot of people still want to hear, so it must be me. Anyhow, Stonesthrow are made up of two sets of brothers – Derek & Andy Murray, and Gary & Paul Smith, they've been a band for two years now, and have already had some tunes used in TV shows on Channel 4, ITV1 and Sky Sports. See, told you that folks want to hear this sort of thing.

I suppose with Oasis split up, and the Stereophonics having thankfully vanished, there is a gap for earnest, workmanlike, pub rock. And not the good, seventies type pub rock. So Stonesthrow will fill the gap nicely until the Gallagher brothers realise that no-one gives a shite when they're apart. On the plus side, Andy Murray is a really good guitarist, albeit one who will need to change his name for Googling piece of mind. Have a listen to 'Stand Taller', and you can hear that he knows his way around a widdle.

Apart from that, though, I'm toiling to think of something good to say. It's not that it's particularly bad, it's just unremarkable. The sound of a thousand indie rock bands over the last ten years, all plowing the same furrow, to little avail. They're actually better when they chill out a wee bit, as on 'Don't Look Down', but they really need to work on the vocals and the songs, if they want to make a splash bigger than the NME stage at Reading.
