LECHERY
In Fire Metal Heaven

Metal Heaven 2011

Now that's a proper name for a heavy metal band. Lechery. Roll it around your tongue a bit. Then say "I'm not getting back in the van 'till you say we're heavy metal". Heavy metal mania all of the way. Because that's what this Swedish mob are. Heavy fuggin' metal.

Formed by Martin Bengtsson, a one time member of Arch Enemy, and also Arch Enemy guitarist Christopher Amott's side project Armageddon, Lechery have been on the go since 2004 and are, unashamedly, heavy metal. Did I mention they were heavy metal? Because they are. I never heard their début ”Violator” back in 2008, but it seems to have kept them on the road and got them back into the studio.

Produced by Rickard Bengtsson, who has worked with the likes of Arch Enemy and Spiritual Beggars, it sounds great. A huge metal fist in your face. Owing more to the Germanic sound of Accept and Scorpions, it's definitely a throwback, but a mighty enjoyable one. Bengtsson is an engaging enough singer and the rest of the band - Fredrik Nordstrandh – guitar, Martin Karlsson – bass, Kristian Svensson – drums - do their metal thing very well.

There are plenty of tunes to get your fist in the air, and your dandruff flying with 'We All Gonna Rock You Tonight', 'Burning Anger', the title track, and the mad as a very mad thing 'Heart Of A Metal Virgin', the best of the bunch round our way. With some great riffs, all I need is to find my studded wristband, and we're sorted.
