SIDEBURN Jail Metal Heaven 2011 ![]() Someone has got a copy of "One Vice At A Time"! Apart from me that is. The greatest ever AC/DC album not by AC/DC came out 30 years ago. Then it was Swiss rockers Krokus. And now it's Swiss rockers Sideburn having a go. Must be something in the Alpine air. Now granted, this isn't in the same league as that, but if you enjoyed that era of Krokus and always have room in your heart for the likes of Rhino Bucket and Boned, then you'll have a darned good time boogieing away to this album. They certainly have the patter down, and with song titles like 'Live To Rock', 'One Night Stand', 'Rock'N'Roller' and 'Long Beard And Boogie', they certainly live up to their predecessors. Vocalist Roland Pierrehumbert is more of a Beano than a Bon, so it's post 1980 AC/DC that you're getting for your bucks, and the rest of the band know how to riff away merrily. That's all helped by a fine mix, courtesy of legendary producer Beau Hill, and there's more than a hint of eighties metal around the edges, bringing to mind the likes of Twisted Sister in places. Musically, the songs are performed with passion, no doubt helped by stints on the road supporting the likes of Def Leppard, Motorhead and Thin Lizzy. Now you might be thinking, we've already got Airbourne, why do we need Sideburn? Well that makes you an idiot, because you can never have too many bands of this ilk. And if you think otherwise, then you should be handing in your studded wristband on your way out because, frankly, you have no place in the world of rawk. Those of who do will have a fine, fine time punching the air to this thoroughly enjoyable release. Buy CD From Amazon |
