Jacanda - Back To The Sky![]() Now this is a little bit special. Chris Pritchett, for 'tis his songs, has come up with a rather splendid set of timeless songs, mainly rooted in what is disparagingly called 'soft' rock. Echoes of Supertramp, The Moody Blues and their ilk swarm through these warm, welcoming and utterly melodic songs. Naturally, with the names above being considered a bit on the naff side, the PR bumph is at pains to say it's Crowded House a-like, and I suppose that is fair. And it'll help on the internet web searches, what with an ersatz Crowded House about to get back on the touring circuit. However, it would disparage Mr Pritchett to write him as an a-like, when the songs here deserve a wide audience. With sparse but sympathetic instrumentation, this is proper grown up pop music with songs of love and death, helped along by saxophones, cellos and mandolins. It's the sax enhanced tunes that get my blood flowing best with 'One Day' a particular highlight. This is well worth a listen if you're taken with those old standbyes of well written, arranged and eprformed songs. Shocking I know, but go for it. jacandamusic.com |
