Kiira Bivens - Love, Lipstick and Poetry![]() American Idol, eh. Seems to have hit a new low this year, but it's amazing the number of great singers that have come throuigh in previous series. Even some of those that didn't make it to the finals can knock the spots off the dimwitted cabaret turns that UK shows turn into short term winners. Well, Kiira is one of those who made it to Hollywood and no further, when she was just 16. But she hasn't given up and even though I don't really remember her, I'm having to ask myself why. Because, fast forward three years, and the girl can sing. Right from the opening 'I'm Done With Goodbyes', it's clear that she has a great voice. On this five track EP, she seems to be trying out a few different voices, with most of the tracks aiming for modern country ala Faith Hill or mid period Shania, but she really hits the spot when she rocks out a bit on 'I Got What I Wanted', a song head and shoulders above the others. Kiira has co-written all the songs here and a cursory glance at her website shows her solely responsible for the material she is working on for her next release, something that should be worth keeping an ear out for, especially if she keeps that edge evident on 'I Got What I Wanted'. ![]()
