Vampires, Cowboys, Spacemen & Spooks![]() Subtitled 'The Very Best Of Joe Meek's Instrumentals', this odd little EP is rather endearing. But not in a good way. More like "your peculiar Uncle Colin is coming for tea. Keep him away from the begonias" endearing. I have no idea why the word 'genius' is so often used in the same sentence as the name Joe Meek. Have these people ever listened to his records? "Ooh, they're otherwordly". Which I assume is some kind of synonym for unmitigated pap. It can only be the murrdurr / suicide / gay angle that keeps people coming back. Because it certainly can't be the bashing a tin tray against your head, amateur hour productions. Thankfully, this limited edition vinyl EP has a mere 4 tracks lifted from a 60 track 2CD set. Which must be for aural masochists only. Praise be, then, for this shortened sampler, which features tracks from the Moontrekkers. Outlaws, Tornados and The Spooks. Buy From Amazon |
