ok on my blue whale i weight painted it so that the tail wes at 50% weight so it doesnt distort, when i export it though everything gets messed up and it is distorting ingame, when i load it again i see that the weight is now 100% in areas where it shouldnt be, why would it do this? |

From what I know I think this applies for blender as well, for a portion to have 50% influence (or anything less than 100%) by a bone, it should be attached to another bone as well with the remaining percent as its influence. On the event of leaving a portion have only 50% influence by one bone, it will automatically make it have 100% to satisfy the rigging. So I think you should attach the tail 50% to one of the spine bones (it really depends) and 50% to the tail bones, that should work out (if that's the problem you're experiencing ) Hope this helps

No...well you said you wanted to give 50% influence to the tail by the tail bones right? And basically you also mean you want no other bone to control it, so the spine bone is like a main bone that moves a big part of the body so if you attach the tail 50% to the spine the remaining 50% you attach to the tail bones. And to give partial influence they needn't be adjacent bones ![]() EDIT: wait wait....do you mean make it 50% between two bones of the tail so that it's like it's flexible? XD Then yeah, in the middle of two bones say A and B, give 50 for both as influence on that joint area. But technically it shd be very gradual too, if you want perfect flexibility I hope this is what you meant XD

Yeah, so I'm guessing the portion that is red, is not attached to any other bone as well, so select one bone and paint 100% on that area, then select another bone and paint 50% now both will have 50% 50% influence
