in the guide that mysty posted im confused again in the guide it says to open entities/units/animals/ai and to "Open the main one, it’s the animals codename. First replace the codename. Then search for zoopedia and you should come to a place that says zoopedia:*codename*:etc. make the codename lower-case so the zoopedia entry will work" the part i bolded is what im confused with...does it mean the file name? or the original animals codename everywhere within the file? |

if you have a download, sometimes it will be set up with actually "codename" in it. In this instance, codename would just be the original name of the animal |

so I managed to make a new animal, made an american mustang based off the przewalskis, and tested it in game. So I made a enclosure and put some in it. The first problem i encountered was there are only females, no males. Then they did not seem to interact socially at all with each other and they social status became critical and they still did not interact at all. Any suggestions? |

umm.. did you select the female/male tabs? They aren't going to randomly place the different genders. |

The critical need might be caused by an incorrectly coded tsk and beh file. |

yes i did change tabs, the females were there, the males were just a blank white square and when you place one it is just nothing |

then yes you are going to have to check all of you coding because there is something definitely wrong. for the male/female problem, I would check the ai files. |

Moved this to Animal Coding Help as it is a more appropriate place ![]() If you have a blank white square instead of an icon and is invisible when you place it, you really should check out the Common Problems Threads, which have guides to help you fix your issues. In your case, it sounds like it is the male files that are wrong. |

Hm, on top of the social problem, they also will not drink or satisfy their needs such as sleeping, or interacting with enrichment objects. And i managed to mess up the original animals too <_< , they are showing the same thing. But on the bright side, the mustangs sure are cute! I might just say phooey with the coding stuff and just make some skins, the buckskin one was just a test, i plan on making more detailed and accurate colors. Also I read you can only have 5 variants for an animal, is that per sex? Could i have 5 female colors and 5 male colors? Edit: they rarely satisfy their needs. They seem to want to investigate or look at things more than using them.

So do the needs go to red and the horses become unhappy? it is likely an error in the beh file in ai/tasks/animals or else perhaps the tsk. Can you explain how you edited these and from where you got the base files? |

Ok i got the files from the Przewalski files, like the guide that mysty posted a link to said to do. I dont really remember how i edited them, i believe i just replaced the codename with my animals name, but I watched them and the normal przewalskis and they both did the same thing, but the przewalskis acted more normally. They would drink and eat sometimes, but eventually the food/sleep/stimulation/social needs would go red and they would just rear and stamp and still not do anything else and man i really cannot even find in that guide where it talked about changing the beh and tsk files...lemme look more and i can tell you what it said Edit:found it "First will be the AI folder, it’s one of the easiest to code. Open AI, the tasks, then guests. There will be two files there, replace codename with your codename, mine Coyote. Next right click on one of them, and click properties. Then click change for ‘opens with’, then chose notepad to open it with, the icon should change. Do this with the other one as well. Now just double click them to open them. Now click Edit, Replace, and then type the other animals codename and chose to replace it with yours. Then click replace all, then save, not save as. After that do the same with the other file. Now congratulate yourself and give yourself a pat on your back, because you just did your first coding. Now go back and into the animals folder. There are two files for each animal. Find yours and delete all the others. Some of these are read only, so justright click them, click properties, and then uncheck read only. I would always check to make sure, becase the file will not save if it is read only. Then recode the files like the others. When they are done the AI folder is completed." bolded part refers to changing the animals beh and tsk, and it came with most of the files in the guide, so i had to delete all the ones for different animals, just so theres no confusion |

also, check to make sure that you are changing everything in there, and not just checking for HorsePrzewalskis, but also just Horse
