Missing Animal Icon In Adoption Info Pannel; think i'm missing a TGA file...

Sorry to bother everyone again.

I am currently re-doing a fennec fox into a pokemon for some friends (umbreon)

When I click on the icon to adopt the animal the information screen about the animal appears in the right hand corner fine, with all the biome/endangerment info correct but where there is meant to be a moving icon of the animal there is a moving black space in a fennec fox shape.

Now I have my suspicions that this is due to the fact I have no animaname_icon.TGA file in my entities/units/animals/umbreon file but I might be wrong. I cannot find this file anywhere in the fennec fox files in ZT2. If anyone can help me out that would be great =)

also a question on the zoopedia names, my zoopedia works fine except for one thing, the name at the top of the page and what its called in the index of the zoopedia is 'umbreonpoke' which is my codename for the project. Is there anyway to make it so its just Umbreon? I've tried experimenting with changing certain names in the zoopedia lang file but this has only resulted in the zoopedia then not working in game.

any help would be appreciated =)

heres a pic of the project in game:

Unfortunately, with EA, people have been finding that bug. If you look at the official fennec, I believe it has the same error, so I have no idea how to fix it.
Check out my site where you can get many of my downloads here.

As Penguinman said, it's a problem/bug with EA, it occurs on some other animals/objects as well, sorry! :(

As for the zoopedia name issue, open up the Lang file and look for:

<zoopedia_umbreonpoke>
<entry>-name-</entry> <- make sure this says Umbreon and not -name- :) or anything else!

thanks guys =) is a shame about the icon but oh well. Its weird, there must be someway to make it work as my fennec fox has the moving icon filled in. I just can't find it...

Thanks for the adivce shen, you were right that part was still 'umbreonpoke'.

Sorry to keep asking questions but I haven't been able to find the answers to this,

guests can see the animal and it makes them happy/angry/donate money etc BUT when they donate the money isn't listed in the 'by species' screen as umbreon, its just not there. I know there is money going in because the summary screen has the amounts listed. Any idea how to get rid of this problem?

I also have no animal sounds for my umbreons, am trying to figure out why. Do i have to rename all the sound file names in the entities/units/animals/umbreonpoke/sounds file? I also cannot find any coorosponding coding for the sounds in the xml or bfm files to direct the program to the right place. Again any hints would be most appreciated =)

Did you code the guest files correctly? My guess is you've gone wrong somewhere along those lines - http://z14.invisionfree.com/ZT2_Designing_...?showtopic=1295 MarineManiac made a very thorough tutorial for guest donations - maybe you should try looking through this to see where you went wrong? :)

No, you don't even need to include them in the .z2f :) What you do need to do, however, is make sure you have an entities/sounds folder, and inside it, there should be an .xml file called umbreonpoke or whatever your codename is :)

Inside you will see a list of sounds that will be played with specific actions the animal does, for example, here is a sample of my Highland Cow coding:

Code:

<soundtags>
  <!--Adult-->
  <BFSoundtag>
     <BF3DSndFactory name="CowHighland_Adult_Eat">
        <snd name="entities/units/animals/Bongo/sound/Bongo_Adult_EatA.wav" volume="1" mindist="2" maxdist="50"/>
     </BF3DSndFactory>
  </BFSoundtag>

You need to make sure that your codename is in the place where it says BF3DSndFactory name="codename_Adult_Eat" or whatever the action is, but leave the other path completely alone! Don't touch it! :) And make sure that it is like that throughout the file :)

Thanks muchly Shen! I didn't have a sound file or the sound xml in my entities file. Now they are all yapping away quite happily so thank you! Also the name in the zoopedia works fine now.

I will check out the tutorial, I'm sure it'll help so thanks for pointing me in the right direction. The donations bug and the icon bug are the only 2 thins left wrong as far as I can tell (touch wood) and if the icon bug is unfixable then hopefully I've nearly finished!

you can handle tga files in photoshop. i opened the tga icon of my animal. it looks like the normal icon image with an alpha channel added on.

if you open your umbreon icon in photoshop and add an alpha channel
(i can explain how if you need it :) ) and save it as a tga it should
(in theory) work. what you all think?

just a thought...

hmm I will try that but I don't know if it will work... as the icon I'm talking about moves around like the animal does. It's not a static picture. Will still try though so thank you =)

also the icon works for the babies but not for the adults...

As far as I'm aware, the game internally generates that image (which is why it rotates when you move around and why it moves and such), probably just by displaying the NIF and the skin in some way. Unfortunately EA seems to have broken it somehow, but that may be due to a core engine update rather than a coding error that can be fixed :( It's found in the original fennec fox as well, so it wouldn't be counted as a bug if you released it anywhere.
