You probably would get more response to your question if you post in the correct 'help' forum but I will be glad to help if I can. First, which bench are you using as your base? And secondly, which .dds file can you not find? If it's the wood slat fence - you will find the main .dds file in the original entities folder - shared - df_woodslats |

Why dont you take a look at Z-TAC it will help you alot more than APE II Though it is off-line at the moment But anyways, in winhex go to search, then type in dds, then tell as APE (or Z-TAC) tells you (rename the origninal animal's codename to your animal's codename but keep the same amount of letters, rename the dds files so that it matches the one in the .nif, and also rename it in the main xml file[entities/units/animals/ai] by searching for the file, and do not rename the sick or dirty files to the codename from the nif) |

OK.(This will be easier when I finish it) The lang folder. I renamed 1033, then renamed the file in that. I opened up the lang program and am stuck once again(surprised?) The tutorial says to rename stuff in that file, but it cannot be renamed. |

First, do not rename the 1033 folder. It stays 1033. It is the file inside that you change to your codename. First, make sure that it is not a read-only file. Check the properties to make sure. Then open it in notepad and make your changes. |

and make sure that it is codename_strings.xml not just codename.xml (replace codename with your animal's codename) |

Icytree - I think his questions are about the bench he is making, not the squirrel. (see first post) If it is the bench - then do not use codename_strings.xml |

now when archiving it into a z2f did you right click the codename folder or highlighted the four main folders (ai, entites, lang, ui) then right click it? the second method is the correct way. |

Where did you put it? How did you package it? For testing purposes, you can select your entities, lang, and ui folders... Right Click and zip them - except instead of letting it attach a .zip to the end - type in .z2f (this is to put it back into the game format). Now copy that file and place it in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Zoo Tycoon 2 If you've done that correctly then troubleshooting it your next step |
